Cleaning and Polishing Tail Light Covers

Has anyone successfully done this? After taking them apart, they're pretty oxidized inside, it would take a lot of elbodine to get the crud off.

But after that - I don't think this is ABS plastic so I don't know if if it can brought back to transparency? It's soft and flexible -

As far as I can tell '79 - '93 are all the same, so that should cover the year, but I should have said for a Mustang.

I would just buy some but I can't find them in blue and don't want to go on a color-match adventure to paint them.

WTB Blue Speaker Covers (For Doors)

Anyone have a pair in good condition? The top front corners on mine are broken, I would consider some that aren't perfect if that corner is still present -

Hmmm....

Make sure the motor is running in the UP direction? Other than that, it should come up if the motor is running.

Otherwise - I think if it were done carefully and correctly, a hacksaw blade could cut the screw off just above the body.

About the wiring - there are a series of safety ...

Hopefully there is a little room between the bottom edge of the top and the car to get your fingers in there and pull up as you operate the motor. If the motor runs it is likely that the gears are bad and just spin - but some upward pressure should get it going.
If not - you'll have to get creative ...

I did eventually replace the pull-down motor, and the top. But I left the timer circuit in place and it still works great, no other switches necessary.

I looked at two ssr's this winter for a DD and have yet to learn it is a trailblazer... Very interesting. Here in CT, some of these owners think their cars are worth above high book because of the "limited production" so they ask stupid prices and won't move on price, hence why I still don't own ...

Chevrolet SSR

I was in the market for a new DD, and I looked an a Chevy SSR - it had me at the power top. The movement of the top and how it stows away is very reminiscent of the ASCMcLaren.
A little research and I find out that ASC was responsible for the top and much of the truck itself.
