Sorry -

This note was a reply to tfs2121 from my thread about the McLaren wheel I had for sale. I must havve hit the wrong button, as it showed up as a new thread instead of the answer to his question about "...is there a chance I'll find a Capri hood (at the Belleville Swapmeet)".

BTW - I do not ...

Capri Hood

No way to tell - all kinds of parts show up there. Usually a bunch of early Mustang stuff, and a lot of early Ford V8 stuff. I like it because it's mostly guys bringing "real" greasy old parts from their garages instead of blister-wrapped reproduction junk that you can buy just anywhere.

The condition of the seats is poor - the leather is damaged, and the bottoms of the seat frames are rusty from sitting around in a shed. There are a couple pics in the "Other" gallery.

If you send me an e-mail (cobrajeff at comcast dot net), I wouild be happy to send you more pictures.

One MSW 15" McLaren wheel

One 15" McLaren Capri wheel for sale. Has been painted red, and painted white over top of that. Appears to be straight and never curbed, but has way too much paint on it. Will have at the swapmeet in Belleville, MI, this weekend (Sat., July 19). $75.

Pictures in photo album in the "Other" category ...

ASC McLaren roadster Recaro Seats

I have two tan Recaro leather seats that I bought many years ago out of a junkyard '85 McLaren Capri roadster . I had planned to recover them, but never got around to it.

I will be taking them to the Belleville (MI) Swap Meet this Saturday (July 19). Asking $100 for the pair - cannot ship - pick ...

3.73 Gears

I replaced the 3.27's in my '85 AOD convert with 3.73's, and I was very happy with the results. Also installed an "A" servo and valve body out of an '89 Lincoln LSC into the AOD.

Styling Bar

I put one in my '85 - it was a lot of work. Had to notch the foam covering over the bar to clear the top mechanism, fabricate a floor mount, and move the whole assy forward so the top would work.

Brent -

The ETR radio in your Cougar is the same as the Mustang/Capri radio except for the lighting color. The lighting can be changed - the bezel can be removed from the radio, then the printed circuit board can be detached from the bezel. The red display lighting comes from a filter glued into ...

MTR Cass Probably Dealer-Installed

I would say it was most likely Dealer-installed. Royal Radio in Royal Oak was (and still is) the factory-authorized Ford radio Service Center. They would come out to Krug L/M or Village Ford and install any radio the dealer wanted.

According to Ford's records (I suppose there is a CHANCE there ...

1985 Capri Radios

Sorry, I messed up in my last note (I have corrected it now). The MTR Cassette model was NOT offered in Capri, the base radio was just an AM/FM MTR. This radio was available with or without Premium Sound. The optional radio was the AM/FM/Cass ETR. This radio was also available with or without ...

AM/FM Cass MTR

The AM/FM MTR radio was the "Standard" radio for the Capri in 1985 (no option code because it was "standard equipment"). The radio was offered in two models, with or without Premium Sound. Again, in this instance, the only difference was the Premium Sound graphics on the radio bezel.

The part ...

Ford Electronic Cassette Radio

According to the picture, that IS the correct radio for the window sticker shown.

The radio would be known as an "Electronic AM/FM Stereo Cassette", option code 586. Your window sticker does not specify Premium Sound, option code 913, so, you do not have an external amplifier. There was no option ...

1985 Mustang/Capri Radios

I am not exactly sure what you guys are trying to sort out on the radios, but maybe I can help. I worked for Ford for over 30 years - most of that time was spent in Ford Audio Systems. From about 1982 to 1986, I was in Radio Engineering, and I wrote the Ford "Sound System Catalog" that went out to ...
