Well, I ordered the needed left side muffler for my 1986 ascMcLaren COUPE, tonight, on line. The part I ordered is listed as original replacement part for the 5.0 302 V-8 in the '86 Capri RS. $106.00 with tax. The brand is Walker. It comes with heat shield attached. It should be here by weeks end. That's the easy part. The hard part is to find a quality shop that does great work and has skids to lengthen the ramp up onto the lift (IF it's THAT kind of lift) Hopefully...not! We have to watch the side ground effects on the other type of lift to make sure that they to not touch the side skirts.
I can see my blood pressure climing, allready. I waited & posponed this all summer. Time has come to "just do it" ~ The car has not been driven since January 2nd (Sunny & 55 degree day with no sight of snow or puddles) ~ It was started & run for 25 minutes back in April.
When fixed, she's going down the Garden State Parkway for 6 miles down, and getting off & coming the 6 miles back home. This to be done at 60 MPH and at 6:00 AM on a Sunday morning. Hopefully in very early October, or later on this month.
Then she'll go back into storage until May of 2007. Hopefully the right side muffler will endure.
In may '07 we'll do a full service, last done Jan. 2nd 2006, followed by a wash & wax & detail.
Too many "children" have I.

I said $20k...only because I haven't seen another one get even close to that yet. That other 86 on Hnaks site sat there for quite a while at $12k.

The voting is going to close soon, as I made it for 48 hours. I personally felt that $25,000 was "pie-in-the-sky" and that $5,000 was plain nuts. So, I felt between $10,000 & $20,000 was the real world, as shown now by my peers. I have it insurred for $18,000, by the way. Not looking to sell, just wondering aloud. It's really in fantastic condition, even has all of it's paper "decals" on the engine block and wax crayon marks on the undercarriage, as put on by line workers. Except for the forth-coming left muffler is all original. It's the 5th from the final unit made, of the full packaged units, and is 1 of 9 with automatic .... It "lives" in a temp. controlled storage unit @ 65 degrees year-round with dehumidifier enviornment. 2006 is the only year (so far) that it has not been driven. So, I've averaged like 40 miles a year. 16 of that to my Ford dealer for fluid & filter changes. The tires are the OEMs and are NOT cracked ! It wears Souverne-by-Pinnacle wax, @ $89 a container, and is covered with a cotton underside / satin top side cover.

Make sure they don't ruin the stock muffler anymore that it already is...and save it. IF - I said IF you ever sell the car...it will most likely go to another nut like yourself and having the stock muffler would be cool.

Yes, I planned on saving it. It's got a ping pong ball sized hole in it.
