Peter what paint did you use on your engine bay? How close a match was it to the exterior paint?

That looks good. I so have to get the restoration started on mine. With mine I just plan on dropping it off at the body shop and telling them to restore it. I'll do all the mechanical stuff but I hate doing body work and it ties up my garage so I cant tinker with my other cars.

mike i used http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ and orderd spray cans of pre mixed 85 mercury 3L... it was a base clear system i thought it came out AMAZING for having been a spray can. the color match is perfect and the only thing that i can tell with my eye is that the new engine bay paint is just so shiny compared to the body paint. i would recomend for any tuch up work but for your fancy dancy car i would have a pro spray it with a gun. i think i am going to get some more paint from them and do my new A & A side skirts that i just got and the under side of my hood

How many cans of base and how many cans of clear did it take to do the engine bay?

Don't worry about my fancy ass car. The engine bay ain't all that great. It needs a respray and the hatch needs a respray underneath. Yeah, the rest of the car has a great paint job tho.

And the clear came out really glossy?

I've tried many rattle can clear (SEM, Duplicolor, Rustoleum, Krylon) and could not find a GLOSS clear.

If this stuff is good, I may buy a bunch of it for doing the underside of the car, wheel wells, etc etc etc.

Your car looks great. Aftermarket sunroof, did you have it installed? I installed one in a Mclaren in 1989 for a soldier that was stationed around here. Did Hank short you some tape in a stripe kit?

the clear came out verry glossy (like glass) atleast i think so you might want to try a can its only 7 bucks for the clear i think you will be very happy with it for what you want to do if you want i can take some more pics for you... you might want to check around town where you live my dad told me after i orderd my stuff that manny places will do this for you

the sunroof was in the car when i got it... its to bad i wish it didnt have it i might fill it in one day or install a factory one... and yes hank shorted me about 6" of tape but he sent me a whole roll for free to make up for it some of the pics were taken about 2 years ago the tape is finished now

thanks for the comments
