There are people with fewer than 2 dozen posts on this site that visit on a regular basis and have provided more information within those few posts than many of those individuals with over 100 posts. There exists such a thing as quality over quantity, not that I believe any of my personal posts have had significant value.

Mike has done a fine job of administration and moderation on this site. His prior comments pretty much sum up where he stands on this issue. Again, thank you Mike!

Why should this even be an issue if someone chooses to lurk or talk about the weather and include their ASC in the conversation? There are many valid reasons why people don’t post. For instance. I bet there are some people that don't even own an ASC or are thinking of owning one that don’t know what to say and are afraid of sounding foolish. They just absorb information until they are comfortable and when they finally decide to make a post it’s usually phenomenal and gets us back on track. In some cases these lurkers are from other countries and have a difficult time with there English. Also imagine Kyle if he was overseas for a long tour and couldn’t post for over a year. Some people are car collectors and join many groups just to reference pertinent information. I can see if the lurkers are interfering or obstructive but this is not the case. If you want to get people to post more encourage it. Make them feel welcome when they first join the group by sending them a personal email. Otherwise they don’t know who is who and what clicks may exist. Make more polls or discussions if you want more interaction.

i love lurkers i was one for a long time because i cant spell worth a darn and have a "difficult time with my english" but you all make me feel welcome and i feel like we are all one huge car famly we are apart of a group that only a few thousand people have been privliged to say they owen an ascmclaren

my brother just got a jeep not to long ago he said he feels like people with jeeps are tight they always wave and let him in and are nice to him on the road he siad that if he was ever being car jacked or muged that someone else in a jeep would come save him... id do the same for any other asc driver

edit: i like it when new comers or someone new asks a question most of the time its something that hasent been talked about in some time.

You're close. I think that Hawkeye was doing his impression of Groucho Marx when he issued that line.

One reason why I wanted to keep old posters accounts around is that for whatever reason if somebody wants to contact that person (to inquire about a car or whatever), then there is a remote possibility that they may be able to do it. If I delete the accounts, then that ability/information is lost.

Another reason to leave them, is that if they do come back after several years I'd rather have them start using their old account rather than creating a new one with possibly a different name.

The group is so small I'm not really worried about it. We're talking less than 250 registered accounts here.

All I'm doing is weeding out the spammers and removing people who have abandoned their accounts after adding nothing to the forums.

Now that makes plenty sense. :) So if a person is not posting they cant be spamming either. Best way to tell them apart is to only delete a spammer when it happens.

Spammers rarely post. They just make dummy accounts with usernames like "ViagraDave" or put Cialis websites in their signatures.

And of course 1 second after I said that...I get a spammer hitting the welcome forum as a guest with 10 spams.

Oh well, now it's locked down like everything else.

Lurkers and bad spellers we all have something in common. The LOVE for our Capri's and/or Mustangs. Or cars in general. It is also a great joy when we meet and but a username with a face. I for one have truely enjoyed meeting and dealing with many people from this site. And hope too continue make and meeting new people.

Mike N. I think it's a great idea to save the names of none posting people. Maybe a section just for them. It may allow others to just email them just to say HI
