Just Picked it up...

Post by ckj »

Well I picked up my 85 mclaren coupe Saturday at the airport in Toledo Ohio.
I bought it off ebay a few weeks back.
Against better judgement, I drove it to Arizona and just pulled in to my garage. The car was as described. It has some rust issues that need to be fixed and the paint is dreadful with clearcoat pealing all over. The side skirts were broken somehow but he gave me a brand new set along with a new wing. Original ASC mats in the car and everything seems correct and intact except the shifter knop which is pretty minor. I'll put up some detailed pics tomorrow. It seems that there is a USA flag headmat someone installed in the car along with rpm and water temp gages along the drivers side front window pillar.

It was a fun drive back, but it clearly is a 21 yr old car and needs some work. Will be a fun project. Oh yeah it runs like a r*ped ape..

Glad to hear that the drive home was trouble free. Sounds like you will help to bring it back to it's formal glory.

WHAT IS CORRECT ON IT, FAR OUTWEIGHS WHAT IS WRONG. IT'S ONE OF THE BETTER SURVIVORS!

You had alot of guts to drive that distance (speeds) in a car you didn't really "know" ! Best of luck.
