The entire 1986 Brochure is in the link above. Below is the page I am referring to. First look in the left column two lines down from "Engineering". The GS has the option of a 5 speed manual transmission.

Then look on the Right column under "Performance" and note that both the GS and RS could get the optional 5.0L Automatic combo.

I see other differances, too.

"Gatorback Tire Pkg." on GS and Fog Light Covers on RS. I know that I didn't get any Fog Light Covers and have never seen any, on any other 1986 RS. You didn't even get them on McLarens. I have them, as I bought them aftrermarket. Hella.

Around 1988 Hella had offices in New Jersey, like 25 miles from me. I called to see if they had covers for my foggies. The lady chacked & said that they had 1 pair (new) left, and that they were not getting any more.
We were having a hurricane at the time. With wife screaming that I was nuts, I left in the middle of the hurricane to do the round trip of fifty miles.
I arrived home fine, with the covers.
One does not forget such a trip. At one point I was driving around downed trees !

Thanks for the scan, Mike. Very interesting. I wonder how many 1985 86 were sold in Canada of RS & GS with V-8
I think that you missed 1 page in the '86 brochure, as you scanned 11 panels. It's gotta be an even #.

I have seen some cars with the original Marchal fog light covers. They are usually very very low mileage original cars though.

85 Canadian Brochure is UP!

http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/Literatu ... Canada.htm

The only thing I saw different was the option for power windows was in the Canadian brochure and not standard like the US one. :?

I'd love to see a photo of a 84 85 or 86 Capri with window cranks. No mental image to draw on. I wonder why they did that ?

So, a cool car would be a GS V-8 with a 5-speed & roll up windows. I see no paint color changes,

I wonder if they had to seperate assembly lines making them, those for USA & those for Canada ?? Sure would like to know how many were ordered in Canada in 84 85 & 86. :?:

No, Sandy. The 5 speed was not available in the GS until 1986. :D

I wonder if by 1986 the power windows were standard in Canada? Yep, they were standard in 1986.

So no 85/86 GS v-8 5speed with manual cranks for you!

Mike,

When the new owner of the GS sends you the pictures of the Buck Tag could you post them?
I'm really curious to see it.

Thanks,

I actully was referring to1986. I did not check the window options. I just assumed that if they were optional in 1985 on a GS they were also optional in 1986. My Bad.

Do you know *IF* Canadian cars were built on a seperate line.
God, that musta been confusing for assembly line workers.

I can't drive 5-Speeds but I sure as all hell would love to add a GS V-8 5-Speed 1986 with all the options X-cept Automatic. How cool would THAT be?

(Then again, I don't drive any of them very much) BUT, this coming Spring, they are all going out for a romp.)

I like Sunday mornings around 7:00 AM Good time!

When my sister worked for Ford, because of her job, she had to visit many of the assembly plants on a weekly basis and I asked her if she could get me into the DAP plant so I could see the Mustangs being built.
She obliged, and the day we went was one of the coolest things I had ever had the opportunity to do. I had been through the Corvette plant tour before, but it was so much better since we weren't restricted. We probably spent 3-4 hours walking around looking at everything and went everywhere.
I would have to say that from what I saw, there is no way that there was a separate line (there just wasn't any room for a separate line).
I would guess that if they probably ran the production of the Canada destined cars in batches.
