Dash Plaque Numbers

In the Info & Resources section it states that '88s have dash plaque numbers from 480 to 1494. My 88's plaque number is 1548! Any thoughts?

I need to save this & highlight it for an easy post. I can do it in my sleep.

ascMcLaren was geared to do "about 500" units a year. Witness 479 in 1987, 247 in 1989 & 65 in 1990. For the 1988 model year they did something that eventually is one of the major things that killed the car.
They offered Ford (and Mercury) dealers a deal they could not refuse. Vehicles shipped to them WITH NO MARONEY STICKER on them. (Public knows this as a "Window Sticker".) They printed up a small dealer booklet, touting the "The Skys the Limit on Profits!" With no window sticker, dealers could affix their own, and mark the car way up. (Aftermarket convertors are not required to affix a Maroney Label.) Being that (as we know) ascMcLaren changed the door glass.....bye bye original window sticker.
Dealer lit up to this idea, and Holly Smoke, they ordered 1,015 units.
This was waaaaay more than they could handle and many workers actually quit over it. Shortcuts were found at the plant. The plaques were ordered. I believe that they ordered 1800 or thereabouts. Unlike 1987, 1989 & 1990 were the plaques werw pretty much taken in order as a car was finished, in 1988, they were all dumped into a big construction-type wheelbarrow. Dumped in like you'd dump a basket of trash into a dumpster. THERFORE.....No 1988 is in the correct order (I do have the correct order via a listing). The man at the end, before the finished car exited the plant to go to the shippment station, reached in and picked a plaque and put it on.

Hi Sandy! I bet every new owner has the same question! The last 6 for mine are 279500. Are you saying that if mine is, lets say 1000, that there could be another '88 out there with that number, or that the 1000 plaque may never have been used at all?

She's actually # 951 of the 1,015. So.... her dash plaque SHOULD be # 1430.

She is Charcoal Grey Metallic with Light & Medium Titanium Grey Interior and a Black roof. She's an automatic car, with the standard "Sports Seats" and was not ordered with the optional Whistler Spectrum-II Superhetrodyne Remote Radar Detector.

How I doing ?

She is ALSO one (1) of twelve (12) ever made in that paint color. I have located 1 one in Ct.
