I talked to the owner (the owner at that time) of this car a while back. I posted about the car. At that time he said he would not take below $20,000 for the car. It has been painted and restriped according to him. Hopefully he has seen the light on the price. I'll probably be bidding. See my post from last May.

I don't think that it will break $4,000. Just not the "interest" nor demand for these great cars. Most people have no idea what they are. Therefore, they don't want one. Hey, hard cold facts. I don't agree, but that's the facts of life. Now, if it had the name saleen or shelby on it......

Hopefully, the owner has done a little research and set a realistic reserve. I would love to see you get this car, if only for the selfish reason of wanting another ascMcLaren owner so nearby.

The owner's previous inflated sense of value for the car reminds me of this guy in Arkansas with whom I spoke about buying a Crimson Cat last year. I do not recall the precise figures, but he wanted two or three times the maximum value of such a car, and was insulted whenever anyone politely suggested that he should lower his price. I should dig out his phone number just to see whether he still has the car and what his asking price is now . . . .

It'll get near $6k.

Sandy had good advice before. Never tell the owner to lower their price. Just tell them that all you have in your bank account is $x. If they bite, they bite. If not, leave your name and number.

Anything else like, "your car's not worth it, or you're price is too high" just puts them into defensive mode.

The only thing I might say is "nice car, but I'm not sure if the market is there yet". It's a bit more subtle.

I simply told him it was above what I was willing to pay at the time. I was sort of shocked that he wanted so much. I just didnt expect to hear $20,000 when I called him. I was so excited, and then so let down. I'll be bidding, but I doubt it will meet the reserve.

I told the owner don't listen to anyone, your car is easily worth $20k-25k no less. Anyone lowballing you is stealing money from your family and I wouldn't bother talking too. I offered him $15k to end the auction now and he said he will hold out to see how well it goes. Remember 1 of 3 how many people can say that?

LOL, TOO funny.

Gee, I wonder who "username" could be......1st post.......the owner of the car trying to persuade people into bidding into the upper teens.......

That call didn't happen, its a joke.

I hope one of you bidding on it gets lucky and he wakes up - lowering the price. Hate to see it get driven as a daily driver.....

Many asc people can claim 1 of 3. But nobody is getting $15-$20k for their cars.
