No, I didn't fix the muffler, yet. I got lazy. My decession is to go to Midas, because the guy treated me nice, they have the necessary drive on lift, where the car is lifted ON the ramp ratrher than an "X" ramp that lifts the car by the rail frames, and can come in contact with the side ground effect skirting. Further, his ramp had a more strretched out ramp with less of an angle to drive the car onto it, thereby not making contact with the bottom of the front air dam. I am suppling the muffler, so all they have to do is install it. I am not dropping the axle, so that the tailpipe can be dropped so that the mufflerand tailpipe can be welded. Too much opportunity for SOMETHING to go wrong. Keeping it simple.
I am waiting for a day without RAIN. We've had ALOT of rain here in NJ over the past week. Even a Tornado touched down locally, and it WASN'T an Oldsmobile!

Michigan is a little too far, from New Jersey, to travel to change a muffler, and IF I did THAT, i'd be well, PlumKrazy !
Sometimes I think that I should sell the Coupe (866 miles). I worry so much about it, I really do not have any enjoyment from it, just $900 a year storage fees & $250 insurance fees. This Midas Muffler shop is 4 miles from me & 4 miles back home, and I am petrified that something baaad COULD happen !
This is - I guess - the price one pays for keeping a 21 year old car brand new. I've got a storage room in thebasement with at the very least, ONE of every single part ascMcLaren put on the 1986 coupes, but no I am worried now about NOT having normal Mercury Capri parts, such as a hatch, a hood, doors, windshield, grille, headlight buckets, taillamps, etc, etc, the list is endless......
I don't even take it to shows any longer. I take it every year for an oil change, oil filter, and every 4th year for an air filter & a radiator flush.
I drive it 16 miles round trip to a Ford dealership I like where they treat her like one would treat an 85 year old person. That's it yearly "ride".
The original tires are in perfect condition, too.
It's no longer a "car" - it's like art-work one would hang on a wall.
