Winshield Trim

Post by rnoelm »

I think I might have been on the cutting edge of this problem, leaving the right vertical piece of trim from my 1987 model on a Kentucky Interstate in 1988. And that black goo that it was held on with was a mess.

I wish I had tape of the reaction I got from the dealership mechanics down in Ft. Lauderdale when I got back. They actually said I must have pulled it up and snapped it off myself, maybe because I was 17. I ended up getting the piece replaced and had no problems with the trim until I sold the car while on the road in Omaha over the 4th of July in 1989.

Now, the transmission is another story, having burned through 3 of them inside of 25K miles. It was automatic, and when delivered the dealership held it for a few days because they couldn't get it to shift out of first gear. If you purchased your car in Omaha in 1989, I apologize for the transmission it had when I sold it.

Sometimes I miss that car, other times I appreciate the reliability of my subsequent cars.

Flying trim

Resurrecting an old post. I seems Mike (03mach) didn't do such a god job. We bought his car. The trim started lifting off on the way home from the last car show. Fortunately, we had a role of masking tape in the to tape it down for the ride home. I will have to look for some adhesive before the national show in 2 weeks.
