I was the high bidder on the car. I called and spoke with him. I wil be in his area in a couple weeks to p/u my ASC vert and plan to check it out, like in two weeks. He has a few other cool cars and seems to know them. He also said he has contacted Hank for verification, but had not heard back, at the point that I spoke with him.

The door tag might yield a clue. If it has the special DSO code and if everything else checks out on the door tag, you might say that the odds are favorable that it is a true asc bubble back.
Without either, you wouldn't be able to know.

Even with the black door jams, the engine bay appears to still be a "correct" midnight blue.
If on close inspection, the car is originally midnight blue and the vin shows it to be an original 5.0....that would be another good clue that the car was an asc...but again not 100%.
Midnight blue was ONLY available on the GS (no air dam/no sport seats GS). A "5.0L" (formerly RS) car was not allowed to be ordered in Midnight Blue. The number of people ordering a GS car with the 5.0 AND midnight blue color AND to have fallen into some guy's hand to want to fake an asc would be very very very minute.

that is weird on the door jams. I hope to spend some time checking the car and maybe make an offer on it. He seems like a super nice guy. He went nuts when I told him I had bought David's car. He is very aware of the GPIV cars, stating he owns a white one, BUT, really wants my silver one. The seller does seem to know what he is talking about and is pretty well informed, at least from my phone conversation. Man, I wish I had reached reserve and won the auction. But, I had a price in mind, that I thought was very in line for what it is, not being sure it is a true ASC car. I may let another of my Aussie cars go to pick up another 1-2 ASC cars. I had been out of Fox Chassis cars for a long time while I had been over my head in the Aussie Ford's. Anyhow, got back into the Fox cars this year, I forgot how much I loved them, especially drving them. I gave away my P71 Crown Vic and now use an 85 Capri as my daily driver. Pretty cool, as I get to drive a lot as a sales rep. It is funny, there are a lot of young guys in the same rep business as myslef. They are all driving Suburbans and Taho's, and here comes the territory sales leader managing a 5 million dollar territory driving a 22yr old Capri, that really could use a paint job! lol My customers get a kick out me and down to earth ways.

Well thought out points, Mike. So long as he has time to spend with me, I plan to check it out and will post what I find.negusm wrote:Even with the black door jams, the engine bay appears to still be a "correct" midnight blue.

when you go to look at the car make sure the first thing you do is look for this in the grill/radiator suport.

Peter, he told me that while the car was on ebay he got lots of questions, I think probably becuase of the color. Anyhow, he thought Hank could maybe verify the car. That is what I got from the conversation. Even if it were not a genuine car, I would still be interested in it. I have lots of indoor climate controlled storage. So, always open to opportunities.
