Took the mclaren out for a 20 mile stroll tonight, first time in 9 months. It sure was fun! It reminds me of high school riding around in my buddy's oxford white 86 mclaren coupe. That was the hottest car on our side of the state!
I finally was able to get my car registered here in AZ without having to deal with emissions. I have insurance with Hagerty and since it's a rare car and not driven daily, I can bypass emissions. That was a big issue for me since the previous owner pulled all of the smog equipment off.
Car runs very strong, but really needs a paintjob and some freshening up. The previous owner pulled the engine and rebuilt it, and it seems to have a fairly wild cam and different intake manifold. Not sure what else he did Good thing is that he gave me all the stock parts, for some day far in the future! The battery was dead and didn't seem to recharge so I replaced it. I'll make sure to put a trickle charger on while its stored from now on.
Anyways was a heck of alot of fun and the wife enjoyed it too. They don't have cars like that in Europe, so she really enjoys it..
