Guys,

I'm up for almost anything. As I stated in the other post, there are 3 shows coming up in NJ, one in the south (Mt. Holly), one in the north (Butler) and one in central NJ (WHitehouse).

You know me, all too far to go!

Seriously, how come there are NEVER EVER shows in ESSEX County?

I live in Bloomfield, and every Wednesday eve from 6 to 9 PM there is a car show in the center of town. GSP Exit # 148. Usually get 60-85 cars and some REALLY surprising fabulous ones. Tomorrow is the last of the 11 Wednesdays. If any body wants to show up, I am bringing my Silver ascMcLaren (1990). 4 of the 11 were rained out, but I was at the other 6, plus tomorrow's. They get some really outstanding and uber-rare cars showing up.
If anyne wants to come & meet me, it's Garden State Parkway Exit # 148 either coming from North OR South. 148 will put you ON Bloomfield Avenue, You want to go WEST one block to Broad Street. 6PM to 9PM.

OK Sandy. Wanna know why we don't get up to Essex county? Because the traffic is HORRIBLE. The drivers are HORRIBLE. I can't believe you'd actually risk one of your cars DURING RUSH HOUR to go to the center of Bloomfield (which, I may add, can pass as the background for a Mad Max movie during rush hour) instead of hitting the road early on a Sunday when nobody is out, driving on highways (Turnpike for Mt Holley, Rt 78 & 22 for WHitehouse and probably 17, 287 and 23 for Butler). Maybe on the ride back you'll catch a little more traffic, but I dare say your cars would be safer going to any of those three shows thaen the Bllomfield cruise.

I mean, I'll drive almost anywhere EXCEPT on the GSP during rush hour between the Union tolls and Route 3. Hell, I don't even like doing that in my truck. And I used to live in that area!!!! If I still lived there, I'd be the poster boy for a Type A/Road Rage personality instead of this laid back Type B persona I've developed.

Bloomfield Center is 3 short residential blocks from my house. Mileage is exactly 1 mile.

I am going to 2 shows in September. One at Automatic Switch on Hanover Road in Florham Park. It's an open show. Taking some McLaren.

Then the following day to Royal Cadillac on Columbia Turnpike (South Orange Avenue) name change in F.P. to an All Caddy show, and taking
the Sixty Special.

Sandy,

Don't wait for the lottery. Sell the ol' homestead now and move more west. You'll love it. Cranberry, Whitehouse, Annadale, Washington, etc. They're just waiting for you.

I've had to make the drive to Mountainside Hospital in Bloomfield/Montclair and a nearby nursing home as my wife's grandmother has been dying on and off for about 8 months now (the doctor gave her less than a week AGAIN two weeks ago). So, I've had to do that drive a lot this year. God bless you for being able to drive in rush hour up there and not go ballistic.

I still wouldn't take the McLaren out during rush hour, even if it's only 1 mile.

BTW, I've been the middle car going three wide into the bus stop at Watkins Glen and the bumper to bumper traffic in Bloomfield scares me more.

BTW2, I had planned on doing the final COM Solo I event at Lime Rock in November, but I was the first accident this spring at Watkins Glen, and I still haven't finished the repairs/upgrades on the CObra, so I'll have to pass. This year.....

Instead of Woodbridge Mall, how 'bout Jose Tejas next door? Best Margaritas in NJ. Or maybe CHeeseburger in Paradise would be up for a display of a car that signifies Jimmy Buffet more than any other? I already have a Parrothead license frame and a few different Margaritaville stickers on magnets....

But again, can you see driving our cars there? Traffic's a bitch! I'd do it, but I'll be white knuckling it.

How about meeting at a car show and entering as a group? The fall car show/swapmeet at Raceway Park is coming and would be a good spot to get togeather.

While I have a good rep and like many of the regional SAAC clubs, I don't mix well with National SAAC and NJ SAAC. NJ SAAC controls the show part of the Fords at E-Town meet. Plus, it's been moved to the first week in November! Now, if a bunch of us confirm we'll all be there, I will go. But it will be somewhat uncomfortable dealing with people who tried to falsify my judging sheet at the MCA Nationals held in NJ several years ago (thankfully, the second judge of my class wouldn't allow the sheet to be entered, and I took a gold thanks to her). And there have been other things said over the years...and all I could say is "They're bloody cars for God's sake, it's not life and death. or even money and women!"

Sorry for the beginnings of a rant, the wound apparently still runs a bit deep.

mclaren NJ show

Post by apecx »

Hasnt the showing been kinda low for the CJMF show? I could bring the 87 white Mc down. I was thinking about bringing out the 95 saleen for that show. I have so much time in the car and she sits in the garage. The place next to the woodbridge mall sounds fine. Our cars will make it there. If we can drive in NJ, we can drive anywhere! Lets plan a date.
