He isnt looking for trades because he wants to get a Hertz Shelby. I'm not supposed to tell anyone the reserve but I think it should easily sell for it.
If I didnt have mine I would probably get it although it does need some rust issues attended to.

Greg, I bet this is one of those deals that you could really make a buck on.
Why not grab it, fix the rust, repair the ground effects (I bet some Fusor would work great) and shoot it with a new paint job and striping kit. From looking at the other stuff you do, you could tackle it all yourself.
I bet you could resell it for $3k-$4k easily. It's the body work on the car that is killing the price. Since you won't get hit with shipping charge, I bet you'll make out in the end.
People will pay money for these cars but they have to have no rust issues and the body work has to be taken care of.

Well it didnt sell. I dont think the description and the pictures helped it out much. I'm going to stop over there this week and get a real good look at it. Maybe I can work something out with him. Not that I need another one but if thats all it will sell for then maybe I should get it.

Ponydude, when are you going totally restore that rare '83 bubble-back Black Magic ? (Or is it "all done" ?)

Sandy, since you asked, the Black Magic is all original except for a repaint and uoholstery. The upholstery was redone by a guy in Denver, NC and is so close that only the trained eye would know the difference. The paint has some minor issues, but I can live with that for now. Most of the front suspension has been replaced with new and the exhaust has been upgraded/replaced. I drive it frequently and enjoy it very much. All that is left is to restore the AC system. A black T-Top is no fun in hot weather in NC.
Actually, I have an 83 RS Turbo which is rarer than the Black Magic. It is mechanically as sound, but needs cosmetics.
Both are tagged and insured with Hagerty. About the only thing left is the 85 McLaren SC 5.0 and it is rapidly moving up the list. Just run short on time for all of them.
Thanks for asking and sorry for the rant.

I have a soft spot for that Black Magic. I always like them. Take care
of it for me.

Its a '76 Cobra II V8/auto. I used to have a black/gold '77 Cobra II. It was a fun car but I like the Fox chassis cars better.ponydude wrote:What's the car that the hatch is leaning up against? Looks to me like a 78 King Cobra. Kinda makes me sad that I sold mine.

I was pretty sure it was a Mustang II, but the mesh wheels threw me off. Thought maybe it was a king Cobra and the wheels had been painted white.
Sandy, as far as the Black Magic is concerned, I sold it to my Brother-In-Law and he put a lot of money in it. He got concerned that he did not have inside storage for it (other demands dictated that his other vehicles needed inside storage, newer). Therefore, I bought it back. Guess it has a permanent home now.

806 is (I believe) the production # of the total 1983s made.
I was never too keen on the "C" pillars of the 1979-1982, but when the bubble back came out, i really liked it. To my eyes, the black magic bubble back is 1 of my top 6 Capri favorites, along with the 1984 Charocal Turbo, any "White Lightening" black magic, and a few others.
