A must see vid - 85 Coupe on TV...

So I'm watching World's Wildest Police Videos on Spike and instantly I recognize the car and hit record...

Looks like an 85 AscMcLaren Capri Coupe to me. Whatcha think? The badging/stickers on the rear deck look a bit weird and I can't seem to see the rear stripe but sure looks like one to me...either way funny vid...

hehe.

Looks like it says "Capri L" on the back. And it doesn't look like a bubble hatch....or does it?

Yeah you're right. The Mustang style hatch is completely different.

Well it has the wing but I don't see much of the stripes either. The police car's lights kind of make it almost appear to have a rear stripe....except I don't see it go through the lower center.

OK, I watched this thing a million times....its too funny. I think it says "Capri L" on the left side of the hatch. In 1983 Mercury was still making a "Capri L" and it was the first year of the bubble so its probably a 1983 Capri L with an asc wing.

If we saw the FRONT of the car we may have been treated to a nice shot of the 1983 Sports Package air dam which was sold to Mercury dealers in 1983 before asc started converting actual Capris themselves.

IT wouldn't be the first 1983 "Capri L" to have that 83 asc sports package...

I saw that clip as well not too long ago. I don't have audio here, but some underage kids got pulled over for drunk driving didn't they? Then outta nowhere another guy is drunk WALKing!!! Awesome clip. Looks like maybe the door panel is black when he opens the car up. Nice reaction time with the VCR Mike!!!
