Great looking car!

did you do the top yourself? If so, great job.

The wheels are interesting. What kind are they? Did you convert to 5 lug?

Did you repaint the front end or is the camera just playing tricks on the eyes? It looks like the front is a darker red than the front fender.

I had a local shop put on the new top, the old top was shot and needed replacing years ago.

The wheels are off a late model Mach1. I had them and the 5 lug conversion parts laying around from one of my old projects that I sold and decided I would use since I already had them. All the old parts are boxed up and in storage so when it comes time to sell the car the buyer can have them if they want original. If needed I can convert back to four lug easily now that I have done it a few times.

The nose was resprayed but the color is off, I guess the car has faded over time and the new paint doesn't match. I didn't have the shop blend the nose into the fenders & hood, instead they took the nose off and sprayed it seperately, they had to remove all the chipping paint to get a good base for the new paint. I didn't have the funds and time to respray to entire car so I decided to do just the nose and a few other small items to get the car looking more presentable. Maybe next year I'll respray the entire car but for now I'm ok with how it came out, it looks a lot better than it did with all the chipping paint it had.

On some colors the flex agent can change the color of the paint. Takes a bit of talent to get it all to match, though it happens less often with newer paints.

Red390gt where did you get the new top? It's time for me to put one on mine and your photos look good. Does it have the velcro tabs on the inside that attatch to the bows? The one on my car now doesent have them and it looks horrible. Your top seems to fit good. any information will be helpful.

At the time all I did was take my car to a recommended local shop that said they had worked on ASC converetible tops before with success and they said they use the correct top. I took their word for it and so far it seems fine. I don't remember the brand name, I'll see if there is any tags on it and I'm not sure about any velcro issues. I'll get back to you.

I may have the car sold, a guy came last night and looked it over and seemed to like it/ I'll know for sure on Sunday if he comes and buys it.

For anybody that is interested, EZ-On makes an ASC Mclaren top. I picked mine up this past weekend after someone decided to use their knife to install au-natural A/C in my car.

I've used EZ-On tops before and they fit perfectly. The tan coloring is a bit darker, but in a climate where the top will be replaced every few years I don't mind.

I'll be instaling this weekend and I may put together a photo how-to article if I have time.

Yes, they do have all of the correct mounting tabs, velcro, etc. The only thing needed is to slit a small hole in the side to route the side retention cables. The tops on these cars are very easy to do...

I checked with a reputable local shop about mine. He has done a few McLarens and qouted me a price of $800 complete. I know that this won't be one of Hanks tops, but I wanna be able to drive the car.
