Got the magazine, TODAY, and.........

Post by Sandy »

I got the magazine today at the supermarket, and the article is GREAT. (Okay, I'm a bit biased! :lol: ) Actually, it's the first article on our cars in which I could not find even one error !!! (Well, I did .... but I "fixed" them for Mr. McCourt :wink: ).

They did indicate that the Coupe came first, but that's not exactly true. ascMcLaren might have had the "IDEA" of the coupe first, and the planning of the coupe might have come first, but in the production process they came together.

So VERY nice to see (IN PRINT) the CORRECT production numbers....(also so UNUSUAL to see in print the correct production numbers!! :P

I like the magazine very much, it's an interesting read. That GTO in there is to die for, the Ram Air IV Judge Convertible, as is that Corvette that RonaldMcDonald House is raffeling off. I'd like to buy 100 tickets for $100.00 for it.....but I have no place to keep it.

PS/ Skipp - if you read this, thanks for making it happen.

We should all write to the "Backfire" column and praise the article and the car, and tell them that we know of a guy with a brand new COUPE if they'd like to give that some press!! :roll:

I bought it today at Barnes and Nobles. I actually bought all of the mags they had there(4 or 5). As soon as I psych myself up enough, I will read it. Until then, I must clean my greasy hands before handling this masterpiece.

Hemmings Muscle Machines - Feb. 05 issue.
Pg. 54 has a 6-pg. article on a 1986 ascMcLaren 5.0SC 2-Seat Roadster, and I was the consultant on the article, and the car was formerely owned by our own Eric Martin.

By the way, I found one error. Last page, pricing of the car, I read the author the prices, but he copied down the MSRLP of the Recaros wrong. It was $1,765.00 and he has $1,795.00. Otherwise, the prices quoited are right on.

I FINALLY found it at Barns and Noble. I will be writing a big fat CANCEL on my subscription invoice. So much for the free "try before you buy" mag.

As for the contents, so far the article looks really top notch. I see they didn't mention the forums here....oh well. I would have thought that this place would have been a better resource than the International Mercury Association which got listed.

Sandy, did you get any new calls/registrations yet from people who read the article?

My copy has still not arrived. Grrr.

I have to confess that I had not previously heard of the International Mercury Association. Do you have a link to their site?

No, Mike, I got zero contacts as a result of that (well....so far). The end of the article, where he lists my website followed by the Mercury International was never run by me, or I certainly woulda included this site. As a matter of fact, I was rather shocked when I saw my own!!

I had a 3 paragraph "essay" on the Mercury site, a long time ago when they "discovered the Capri ascMcLaren" & contacted me. Members all read it and there was 1 or 2 brief value-less comments made and then they turned the page and went on. On a scale of 1 to 10, our cars momentarily scored a 2.

HERE YOU GO;
