convertable top question

Post by detroits most wanted »

I have 87 convt and when I purchased the car the top has a space in the back where the top meets the tunnel, its a space between top and body on both sides, I dont know if the person who put the top on messed something up, but I want to get this fix as a Major draft and water gets in the car. I was thinking about an after market one, I thought I saw one here on the site before, I think the person had a top that hade tinted windows, anyone knows who that was and what it cost, Im in atlanta GA and if anyone knows of a reptuable shop let me know.

First you have to establish that the big aluminum screw is being pulled (rotated) ALL the WAY down, into the hole on your tonneau cover. If so, then your roof has shrunk, thusly it's not laying down ON the tonneau cover. In THAT case, you need a new roof.

If you think that you have troubles, now, wait until you install a mickey mouse brand roof! If you need a roof, buiy a N.O.S. one from Hank @

Atlantic Blue, Oxford White, Black, Claret-Wine, Tan and Dark Chocolate are the original colors.

50% of the win, is to go to a really good, and careing trim shop for the installation.

Thx sandy you might be right on the latter. the screw goes all the way in, but the top doesnt go down to the tonnel, but the person I got the car from said that he had the top replaced within the lst 2 years, I'm thinking that maybe the people he had put it on did do a good job because he says that he got if from hank in FL. So where do I go from there.

The people who put it on messed up.

It's not an easy job. The installer will learn new curse words.
Iwould not go to a "regular" shop that does convertible tops.
I would go to a custom shop, where custom & speciality work is
done. Also, take photos (from this site) of cars from the back
showing proper fit. You might wanna speak to Henry for add'l. tips.
