That's the problem when collectable rare cars are used by someone as their only source of transportaion, they drive them in all weather conditions, as a result the car will suffer.

When I was a kid I had an 82 Mustang GT that was in perfect condition, I had no choice but to drive it to work during snow storms, my only other choice was to walk 5 miles to work which I didn't want to do and didn't have time to do. I can remember a guy asking me why I was out in such bad weather with my car. I did always take it to the car wash as soon as possible to try and get all the salt rinsed off.

I sent the owner of this Blue convertible on Craigslist an email, he has responded several times, if he agrees to sell it to me for my cheap offer I will buy it and then store it away until I get time and funds to restore it.

I wish that I had a dollar for everytime I have ever heard this.

LOL, thanks for the vote of confidence Sandy. If I get it cheap enough it will sit in my garage until this summer. I just finished and sold my 85 McLaren and 87 Mustang LX, I don't intend to let it sit for years, only months. I'm just a bit burnt spending time in the garage wrenching and I'm taking a break from it, once I feel the time is right I'll jump back into it.

Yea, that is a shame.

I don't quite understand why/how the value of ASCs are so low compared with standard mustangs/capris from '84-'90. I suppose thats good if your looking to buy, but for present owners, not so much. I suppose alot of cars have hit low points value wise, I just thought that these cars would've been on the upswing 6-8 years ago.

This probably isn't very "PC", but these extremely low prices have allowed certain types of people to get ahold of ASCs that just don't take care of them like someone like Sandy for instance. Driving them not only daily, but in extremely bad inclement weather when they don't have another vehicle to drive at all, is a good example.

They buy them because they are cheap and they think they are "cool".

There is little >>> No, make that NO appreciation or knowledge of how they were built and what went into them, and the fact that FO MO CO was heavily involved and to the best of my knowledge, other than Shelby branded cars, FoMoCo has never before, (nor since) been involved in an aftermarket car. Shelby & ascMcLaren. For years Saleen wanted FoMCo to add & deduct things on the assembly line to facilatate Steve Saleen's corporate workers. Ford didn't. But, they did it for American Sun Roof, in our cars.
Because "know-nothings" don't wanna pay a buck for a cherry car, does not mean the car is not worth it. It means it's not worth it TO THAT PERSON ! :banghead: I just read in the paper about someone who killed a private resident's pet snake. The snake cost & was valued at $3,000. Okay? What would YOU GUYS have paid for that snake?

Well it was a uber rare, breed of snake, maybe 100 in the world....Would WE know?
