If anyone is interested, I just spotted a white ASC vert on cars.com. I'm assuming its got 109K miles, not the 9k listed.

I received add'l photos from the owner if anyone is interested.....

From what I could tell from the photos the car was originally(?) white/black top/blue interior. (77) white ASC 'verts were made in '86, (1) with the interior/top configuration I surmised. So...a (1) of (1).

As a result, I was intrigued.....and the owner is claming 9700 original miles. Notice, though, in the photos the mileage on the speedometer - the 140mph speedometer. My understanding is that the 'verts originally came with the 85mph speedo - I know this has been discussed at length here - so I question the mileage. The owner claims the 140 speedo is indeed original. The photos tell a different story - specifically the engine box.

From what I could ascertain from the add'l photos - which included a gutted interior - was that the car would need a cooooommmmppplllleeete resto....about $6500 in paint and body, $2500 for the interior. So, $9000 total, not including the purchase price of the car, for a car that may - may - end up being worth $12-$15k in the end?

I know we don't necessarily go into things like this for the investment potential - you have to love the car, too.....but unless he wants to sell this car for, say, $1000-$2000....it doesn't pass the "laugh test". Unfortunately another (1) of (1) may be lost.......

IF looking for some investment potential, I'd look for a 1990.

1.) Final Year Made
2.) Only ascMcLaren Mustang/Capri with a driver air bag
3.) Seemingly highest build quality.
4). Rariety
5.) One Year only Interior Colors (Crystal Blue; Ebony Black; Oxford White.)

I am keeping my 85 Mercury Capri GPIV Motorsports pace car as an investment or maybe i keep telling myself that because i do not want to sell it

Always depend on how much money you spent on it and how much you plan to get for it. You have a rare car with low miles. That is not too bad.

I feel i got a decent buy and it actually needed just about nothing when i got it a few years ago just maintenance stuff like oil change and air filter and tlc cleaning!

I love my 86 Capri vert, not many 4 eyes out there. My son (19) loves taking it down the strip (live in MB) with the top down, almost as much as I do.

Investment, maybe not, but lots of fun!
26K Original Miles, all stock (I am having a local transmission guru put a shift kit in it).
