The TSW 17" Wheels are on!

Post by capriman86 »

Ok....After pulling out the rear end, painting it, putting the BBK upper/lower control arms in, the 1" drop coils with all new energy suspension isolators, painted the front sway bar with new end links and bushings....here we are.

The ARE 5 Stars are now off the car and are on
my friend Paul's 82GT

Here are the new shoes!

I took a couple of quick pics just a bit ago, I will get some better ones soon.

So..................What do you think?

Hey those look nice. I wonder how they would look in white.

I'm still trying to get my other rims done. Check my album for pics. They are Borbet type A 17X8.5 The powder coat is a real pain to strip off. Once they are stripped they will be painted blue to match the car. I have already polished the deep dish lip.

Nice! What did the wheels run you, if you don't mind my asking?

Thanks guys.

Just added a few more pics to the top post that I had.

I bought the tires and rims for $800 off a guy on craigslist.
He never used them on his project, then sold the project.

I have not got to "test" the suspense much, only drove it about 5 miles since being done.

Mike those borbets are cool! 8)

With the 245/45 tires what gear are you running? and what speedo gear are you using?

I am running 3.73 gears and a 21T speedo gear.

The stock tire is 225/60/R15

At 60 mph these tires would be 59.9mph

So...with 3.73's

(Drive gear * rear end gear * Rev. Per Mile of tire divided by 1000 = _______)

7*3.73*787/1000=20.54857
I choose to steup to 21T to keep my speedo 1-2mph over what I am doing to keep me under the radar..lol

Those wheels look really really nice and I don't like many aftermarket wheels.

I think that car is AAA beautiful, even elegant! THE nicest Capri I've seen in decades. I usually do not like aftermarket anything, 'Ya know, Sandy Stocker - but those rims rule ! The entire car is just perfect. It improves upon the original. I could see this having been a `1987-1988 Capri from the factory.
Change nothing. Bulls-Eye perfection :notworthy:

Do you still have the stock springs on it?

Thanks Sandy! I am pretty happy with the way its going.
The car is far from showroom, but I continue my way forward as
best I can!

I put in 1 inch drop coils. I am a little disappointed on the fronts, I wish
they were a 1/2 inch lower. Maybe things will settle in a bit as I have
only driven the car about 3 miles..lol

What brand of springs are they? I have frpp springs. I would guess they are 1 1/2" lower than stock. I hope my front tires won't rub. My fronts will be 225/45/17 with the new rims. The backs will be 245/45/17.

The front of the car now with the stock wheels and 225/50/15's is too low to get a jack under.
