Grey Seat Belts

Where can I get grey seat belts? Need the inside part, quess you would call it the female part. The part next to the console. The plastic on mine is cracked bad!!!!!!!!!!! Need both sides. For 86 McLaren coupe.

Contact FoxMustangRestoration on this site or FEP. He sells the repro tranny tunnel plastic sleeves (repros). They are nice, I have them. You remove your old buckles from your old sleeves and put them in the repro sleeves. 10 minute job.

Don't try painting them to match. They flex too much and will peel. Maybe using the correct primer and good might work better than what I used but I didn't have much luck. New repro ones come in red grey and black I think.

I got the charcoal grey ones. They are plenty close in color to not have to paint them and I did not paint mine.

You wouldn't want primer...just adhesion promotor. And I only use Metro Finishes paint. So far no problems with my other parts if if I flex them occasionally.

Got the seat belt holder sleeves and installed then and they look great and the right color, Thank you Mike for turning me on to the site to buy them.

I checked out this site, its great they have these for both side of the seat, but NO blue is offered. WTF? What do I have to do, dye them? Doesn't anyone offer blue interior parts? Didn't regular mustangs offer a blue interior???

<sarcasm>Most people believe that Blue/Tan/Red interiors (anything other than black or grey) are not worth preserving. Apparently there is a concerted effort to eliminate them.

Best bet is to take a couple of black spray cans and just spray your interior. Don't bother removing stuff, just spray it as it sits in the car. Its not worth anything anyways so it won't matter how it turns out.</sarcasm>

I'm being sarcastic but its that fricken attitude that I absolutely hate about the Fox Mustang crowd: Nothing but black or grey interiors are worth anything. While they ruin their cars by painting over their interiors, they systematically eliminate one of the very unique and interesting aspects of these cars, which is that there were some interior colors that you will never EVER get a chance to own again. There is nothing more killer than a perfect Blue or Tan interior. For some reason people can't get their heads out of their asses and see what it SHOULD look like and not the faded 20 year beat up interior they have.

This is what limits the market for your blue interior parts. Unfortunately you will either need to paint some pieces blue or hunt down some good used ones....really tough to do I know. Contact FMR anyways and ask him about the blue. He may indeed have them on order.

Mike, you are so correct about this. I could understand some people wanting a black interior at first cause they didnt exist until 1990 if I remember right but there are so many interiors I see repainted black it not only looks fubar but it destroys those less desirable colors that are rare to begin with. Have you seen the ASC seats and door panels that were once blue and now are speckled in black paint? So sad.

Does anyone know of ways to try and restore our interiors? Especially the drop tops that took more of the brunt from the sun? Or some good methods to preserve while still using? Thanks.

The problem with the blue interior is that it didn't come in the GT. Black, grey and red did. So did tan, but not so much. And since most people are refurbishing GT's, those are the colors that sell.

Just keep watching the used parts ads and buy the blue stuff when you can.

Its frustrating and annoying. Its a very common interior part/pieces that are easy to replace. I just can't believe they aren't available in blue. I guess I'll just wait. ???

I am just thinking this through as I write as food for thought. On the same note they sold many more LX Mustang's vs GT's. So even though there is more of a demand on these colors there is a comparable supply. Problem is preference of some people for changing to other colors and few aftermarket manufacturers atm. For instance as many of these cars are retired (nice way of saying salvaged) there is a growing supply of their used parts and less of a demand for NOS until it runs out. I have two tan interior cars and find it hard to find parts yet I believe both LX and GT's shared this color, please someone correct me if I am wrong. It was later replaced in 90 with grey probably due to the lower volume sales.
