I don't mean to confuse the issue here but maybe i can save you some time and money if this is what you are looking for. In previous discussions we have had here it was mentioned that a Cadillac's motor would be the same.

Pull down
For the 84-86 Capri, there are 2 seperate things working together.
The pull down motor just pulls down the tonneau cover and the top tight. It has 2 or 3 wires so it can go up and down (2 directions). The switch on the motor tells it what direction to go. My pull down motor only goes one way. I believe it is due to the black box under the dash is fried. The Lincon pull down on ebay looks like the GM one. They even have new plastic housings on ebay. The housing get broken in our small trunks and is unprotected.
The tonneau has a latch just like a trunk lock. You should hear it click and release. This is what I use without the pull down. Just feed the top hook into the tonneau coverand lower then together to latch.

The black box under the dash as no effect on the pull down motor direction. This box only feed the large grey and yellow wire that use to be for rear defog and that is now used for the top power. There is another relay box in the driver side quarter panel, this one is green and it is fed by the grey and yellow wire comming from the front black box. This box can possibly be a problem but I never investigate that much as mine is working. Also the large yellow wire comming from the battery that feed the front black box, in my car this wire has a fuse installed between two connectors in the engine compartment close to the pass side shock tower. I don't know if they they all have it as my car has a dealer installed A/C. On my car this fuse had blown and the top had no power. Hank has a schematic of the black box and connector on it's website.

Hey if they make the black box indistructable why don't they make the whole plane out of the same material??? lol, who said that was it George Carlin? May he RIP, one of the greatest.
