Not to mention the SVO hood on it too. Might as well wake up all the purists lol jk. I wonder how many flavors are in that thing? Hmm lets see some Capri, Mustang, McLaren, SVO, 87-90 GT turbine wheels, 85-86 GT nose, am I missing anything?86capriasc wrote:Some IDIOT put a mustang front end on another mclaren

Mike and get this, one of the best selling features he can think of is, "YOU CAN DRIVE CAR AS YOU FIX UP", roflmao! Well $2750 is the last bid on her. All kidding aside it looks like a fun car to kick around in if your not looking for one in collector condition.negusm wrote:And he's probably wondering why its only at $2750 (with 14 minutes to go) when the car has been "improved".![]()

I'll admit, although horrific in its concept, it's not the worst thing to look at. At least it wasn't an aero nose so the mouldings weren't all butchered and the wiring should be still in tact.
A correct nose would/should be a straight forward switch. The problem is finding a good Capri front nose, hood and cowl.

Well, I never really chased down moving cars, but I did leave a couple of notes on parked ones.
I used to get alot of telephone calls, but, they too have tapered way off.
I had a couple contacts at asc hdqtrs that would pass my name & # on to callers and sometimes some would call me.
asc got sick of so many callers wanting info, so, after the last 1990 was done (
) they turned over piles of stuff to me. Which, in some instances raised more questions than gave answers.....

I actually had bought a new repro. capri front cover a couple rears ago. I can't remember where I got it. If I remember it was off ebay. I did test fit it and it worked really well.

I doubt it was a repro bumper cover. More likely a refurb. Refurbs are great pieces. They are factory parts so they fit great. I got one from JJ Bumpers and it looked brand new when I got it. Primered and ready for paint.86capriasc wrote:I actually had bought a new repro. capri front cover a couple rears ago. I can't remember where I got it. If I remember it was off ebay. I checked 12 years ago with a body shop and they only had refurbs listed. Whereas you could still get new ones for the Mustang.

no it was actually a repro. It is a black unprimed piece. I think it is a differnet plastic that the stock yellow. I bought a Gt cover also with the same material. I haven't seen the capri cover for a few years now.

I'm still skeptical. There simply is no market to reproduce Capri covers. None. It would be foolish for a company to tool up a part like that for a few thousand units at most.86capriasc wrote:no it was actually a repro. It is a black unprimed piece. The bumper cover primer they use on the refurb covers is black and doesn't look like normal paint primer. Its tough stuff but if you scratch them, they are yellow underneath.

Well it has been a couple of years since I looked at it. I just went out in pulled it from the 83. I was wrong on the color. It is actually yellow with a crappy black primer that it flakin of now. But I'm still thinking it is a repro.
On the back inside of the cover where the bumper support is it has a molded in script saying.
CAPRI FRONT 1984 C-415
MADE BY THE COLONELS IN THE GOOD OLD USA
And it definetely looks new not refurbished.
But, who knows.

I think that I paid like $140 with shipping. Like I said the cover fit as good as factory also. I'm pretty sure I got it off ebay, just not positive. At the same time I had a website that had the original header panels and rear covers also. My computer crashed over the winter so I lost everthing. I have not been able to find the site again.
This was all like 3-4 years when I bought it.
