Cooool... he posted speaker pics!

http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/album_p ... ic_id=1824

Those are the same as my car. 6" Kenwoods. Asc got special speaker delete panels from Ford and put in round speakers instead of the oval ones like Ford put in their normal cars. Those panels are impossible to find.

I need to take some first!!

Mine has an interesting story which I haven't been able to confirm. I've been told the car was a prototype used for the car show circuit. It has both power windows and door locks. The odometer reads 59K and the dash and door VIN plates were removed. It has been without engine and tranny for several years.

Due to rust issues on the hood of the car of the person I bought mine from, he and I swapped the hoods (I have spares and only needed the scoops). The one that was on his car had no stripes, just the ascMcLaren logo; if I remember correctly, the hood originally on mine was the same - no stripes at all.

If the weather is cooperative tomorrow, I'll take some pics and get them posted.

jds3660,

You sure you're looking in the right place? The first 8 pics are from 12/20 and 12/19. At the top of the form page there are several hyperlinks - Album, FAQ, Search, etc. Click Album, them click the 1985 Coupes link.

I thought I was in the right place but wasn't....on the main page I went in the "Asc McLaren Database", then "1985 Asc Mclaren Coupes".

Thanks for the help....I think I'm just too tired. At the expense of sounding like a jerk, are we really talking 29k miles, or 129k miles? I love the car, but given the front end paint mismatch and the engine compartment, I'm thinking the car has spent more time on the road and in the elements than a 29k car would have.

this car has had 2 owners and i do have repair receipts verifying the mileage. the car has been sitting since 2005. the first owner only put 14k miles on it then it sat from 1988 to 1993 when my boss bought it. The car has been a new york car all its life. when it was registered it was definately driven. He said he did drive it during one winter. after that he drove it 2 summers then it sat till i got it. the car was garaged part of its life but also spent some time outdoors as well which is why the front corners seem a little faded along with the window mouldings.

Those seats are 29k milers for sure.

The WEIRD thing on this car is the hatch cargo cover! I have never seen something like that!

Do you have any info on that?

is it possible that its not for that car? it fits in the mounts but when i open it there is nowhere to hold it open. he gave me alot of stuff with the car like the original sticker, paperwork, headlight covers, a spare orange rim....maybe the cover doesnt belong to the car?

Yeah, I bet it's not for that car.

Can you take it off and get a picture of the mount on the quarter panel?

Mike... a few words about your rear interior quarter panels are in order. The car was ordered with Radio Delete. Now...late 1985s and 1986s were also ordered with the "Radio Prep Package" (Sorry it would take max time looking for the code) and
those cars got the holes in the quarter panels, as well as the antenna and its accessories, such as a drilled fender hole, necessary wiring, etc, etc.
You car, and several others were not ordered with the Radio Prep Pkg. I would assume dealers screamed FOUL, and that changed things around to include the Prep Pkg, always, whether or not Radio Delete was ordered.
The Pkg also included the Ford supplied antenna & the base mount, and factory supppression eqipment.

PS / i just recalled where I can find the description and price and the Code of the Radio Prep Pkg. Hang on..

MIKE:-

Code 58Z = Radio Delete (what it says) ...

Code 58V = Radio Prep Pkg. (Includes:- Quarter Trim Panel Punched for rear speakers; all related wiring including that required for rear speakers; Radio Noise supression equuipment; mounting brackets; speaker wiring adopters.

In all probabilty, your car was not ordered with 58Z nor 58 V
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.

Also look at the carpet around gas pedal, look like a low miles car and also rubber on the clutch and brake pedals too.
