1986 hood insulation

Post by tony86ASC77 »

Question Hey I found factory fomoco molded hood insulation for 83'-86' ...but the sticker inside my hood appears 4' higher than the rectangle hole cut out. It over laps some. Also, the corners are tappered, which one can live with that. Did capri GT's an stangs have the sticker in different positions from each other on the underside hood? thx for info and help. :?:

Capris never had a GT trim package. They had the RS trim package from 79-86 and the "5.0L" trim package from 85-86.

79-86 Capris used 79-82 Mustang underhood insulations. Some years of the Capri (83-84?) used a slightly different underhood insulation where the sticker was moved. 85-86 Capris definitely used the 79-82 Mustang Hood insulation.

You don't.

There are none.

You can get a pre cut one for like $30 that is just a sheet of material cut correctly for 79-82 Mustangs/79-86 Capris.

I recall ripping mine out of the '85 the second week because it fouled my air cleaner with a dirty smudge. Don't think the '86 did it though. Pretty sure I left that insulator installed.

You'd think Ford would've found a way to arrest the torque or make things with a little more spacing!
