WHEELS AND CENTER CAPS

HI, Sandy, How have you been ? Hope this finds you well ? I knew you guys have covered this subject before,But I'll just chalk it up to old age . There two types of centers for OE wheels , Front and Rear insert . What Years are each used ? Are the wheels different in anyway ,other than the centers, such as offset ? And if You might know, what was the reason for this ? Thanks for any info You might have .

not 100% sure but... wheels that say asc mclaren with a center hub that is flush with the face of the wheel load from the outside (84-85 or 86)

wheels that say msw and the center hub sticks out about 1/2 inch from the face of the wheel load from the inside (86 and later)

I think, am pretty sure< that what Peter wrote about is correct. The reason was (I was told) that ascMcLaren got the rims for cheaper, by taking thr MSW inscribed ones. Otherwise deleting the casting of MSW and adding ascMclaren was alot more $$$ to ASC. Otherwiise they are the same in design, except for the insertation of the center disc.
By the way.....what *IS* an ascMcLaren ? Oops, excuse me...it's the CHEMO !! (Fresh dose yesterday, so I am laying low on answering questions for a day or 3

i dont know the exact "code" but there is a code on the face of the wheel that tells you if it loads from outside or inside.

Hi, Thanks for the wheel info . Like Sandy said, " $$$ " , is most likely the reason for the change . I had been thinking about later years ,'87s and up. If they needed a wheel change due to larger rotors in the front or for some reason, more off set . But I'm just over thinking it. Do thank you guys for the get back.
