Peter Muscat

Post by Sandy »

Peter Muscat & I have been speaking to one & other. well, actually he called me. He has relocated to Michigan, USA, and has forwarded to me a two page full color brochure of his new Mustang. Now, because McLaren is NOT involved in this project, the name McLaren will not be used. Not sure on ASC being used, but I tend to think NOT. Since I do not have the ability to do it justice, I have forwarded this to Mike Negus, who I assume will get it in his mail on Tueday, & hopefully will post it.
The car is very very nice. Do not look for stripes or decals or wild 'n crazy graphics. The pics you will see are that of a 2009, and not the slightly redesigned 2010, with the new back end. The car is a power retracting coupe that folds down into the area that was formerly the back seat area, leaving the trunk full sized! The roof features a VERY VERY w-i-d-e portion that is tempered glass (actually the glass area looks to be 80 percent of the width of the roof.) This panel flows down and becomes the rear window of the car as well. It looks terrific !At this stage, the remainder of thecar in the photo is totally stock. Not sure if it will remain so.

It allows the owner to have a convertible, a 2-Door Hardtop all in one and have a very unique appealing look on the road that will attract attention.

If any of you would like to send any feedback to Peter Muscat send it to me as a PM and I will forward it to him.

Hi Sandy, Going on what you have said, as to what this new Mustang will look like. There was a picture in the August '08 issue of 5.0 Mustang mag. ,on page 40 . It seems to resemble Your discription. The car was red in color, and had an ASC logo Tag on the rear . A web site was given for ASC ( www.ascglobal.com ). But there was no mention of Peter Muscat, in the caption under the picture. If it's the same car? Sure sounds like it .

I have not seen that magazine, so I cannot say.
I was under the impression, from Muscat, that it has not yet been shown, publicly...

Many of the new Saleens are overdone (IN MY OPINION) with too many stripes, and jumbo numbers on the doors and just too many gee-gaws all over them. Too High School-ish for me, yet the prices are anything but High school ! The way Peter Muscat and ASC did the 1st generation 1984-1990 makes the car 'MORE ADULT' looking and even can hold its head high at a country club atmosphere. It was aggressive looking, without being "tacky". and restrained, yet a person with eyes, knew it was something different. It caught your eye & your attention, and drew you closer to see what it was.
It didn't smack you up-side the head and bedazzle your eyes with giant numbers on the door and spoilers upon spoilers and hood, deck, rocker panel, body-side and over the roof stripes ! It was (and is) different by its design, not by plastic gee-gaws, called "stripes".
I hope the newest one will continue to build upon the 1984-1990.
The economy sucks. I have wealthy friends & poor friends. Everybody is hurting. Nobody is cutting prices to help anybody. I do not see a doorway that leads out ot this mess. It's a tough time to market ANYTHING, other medicine.

Hi , After looking at the "youtube" site , They are two different cars . The Mustang in the mag. , done by ASC , looks to be an exaggerated sunroof. It falls way short of what was done by Peter Muscat . As per the caption ,it' s called a "SKYVu" . It will first appear on the Saleen S281SC, But hope it will become an aftermarket option . The two sites listed are (www.saleen.com ) & (www.ascglobal.com) . But if anyone wants see the page, I'll be happy to Fax it to you. Just give me a number .

That black car is pretty close, but the top is much faster, and there are other small changes.

Saleen Ceased Operations

Post by MIKE'SVO »

Now that Saleen has ceased operations and most of the equipment has will be sold to lessen their debt, I wonder how this will affect ASC? Anyone know?? From what I hear, the entire Saleen Troy, MI operations have been closed. They have been aquired by another company named VEXT. It's a real mess. Steve Saleen just announced that SMS will cover all warranties on any Saleen vehicles purchase before 2/9/09.

Confused

Post by MIKE'SVO »

See this is where it gets confusing. When I toured the Saleen Troy MI facility they said that they were in a partnership with ASC. They even had ASC next to their name at the reception desk. That was last October. So I'm guessing ASC was part of the liquidation along with Saleen last month.

They will keep the name. Maybe slap it on a few projects but the asc buildings and equipment were sold off I am pretty sure.
