I know some will want to kill me for this, but...
I actually drive my '89. In fact, in the last month I have driven it from my hometown in Frederick, Maryland to visit my parents in Youngsville, North Carolina and back, twice. During these trips I have noticed that any decent amount of luggage in the trunk makes for a rather unpleasant ride. thus, I decided to install air shocks. You remember air shocks, nearly every decent luxury car had them, along with a mechanism to level the car if too much was loaded into the trunk. Well, I wanted them....
No one makes them for a Fox Mustang. But, being the kind of guy I am, I wasn't about to let that stop me, so I did a bit of research. Bingo!
turns out that a 1995 Ford Econoline uses shocks that almost perfectly match the compressed and extended lengths as well as the mounts of our little Mustang based vehicles. Being that an Econoline is a bit heavier that a Mustang, the valving should actually work out fairly well. The first test drive seems to confirm this, with the ride seeming to only a bit stiffer than before.
The shocks I used were: Monroe MA777.
Eventually I would like to add a self leveling system, but for now at least I can hit the shocks with a bit of air and not have to worry about riding on the bump-stops all the way down the road!

I think thats cool. I drive my '89 also. It bought it in '99 with 75k miles and now it has 180k and runs great. Original, untouched drive line and paint. Great job on the shocks, I should look at that option since I do 4 or more parades each year. Once we had 5 adults in the car, plus a 9 year old...
