I recall seeing one at Hines Park L-M in 1985. It was driven by a Ford exec. Checked it out while I was waiting on my '85 to be serviced.
Liked the outer glove box door mounting of the radar detector, but he told me they put it under the dash for cost reasons on production cars

Yes, I saw that on the hood scooped cars. They actually cut out a rectangle section on the face of the glove box door, allowing the face of the radar detector to be flush with the face of the glove box door, making it look "built-In" to the dash. The "cut" was at the bottom of the glove box door, and to the extreme left, as close to the dash as possible. The radar unit was mounted in the glove box and when the glove box door was opened, it fold down allowing the stationary securred radar unit to be accessed. It was a neat installation. I do not think that asc did more than a dozen cars that way.
Sandy passed away in 2012. He will be forever missed.
