Repro Headlight Covers

Hi, Have a question to ask of you all . Has anyone ever got a set of repro headlight covers off of Hank ? Was the tint lighter or darker , than the OE covers ? Reason being, got a crack in my left cover ,And it bothers me way to much. Like everything else , I know they will not match . But the OEs are tough at night . Be way too old for this, But cool has it's price! Thanks for any feed back .

im not sure if hank has any light tint headlight covers. i have seen some headlight covers that others have got from him and they were a dark tint.

i got a set of taillight covers off of him last year. they were the same light tint like the factory ones.

I have a set bought from hank about 1.5 years ago. I think they are darker than the originals but I have no way to compare them.
Here's a pic of them on my car in direct bright summer sun.

Compare it to this pic, which I believe to be original. Much lighter almost clear.

You'll have to call him. He does know about the tint difference and did say he was going to get some lighter tinted ones made.

You'll need to ask him tho.

I suppose these are the "repro's" as they are kinda tinted...I like them though...

Light vs dark? I recall some early cars had a green cast to them where later covers were decidedly more smoke.

chuck plumkrazy has some early taillight covers. i think the tint was the same but they had a lip covering the top of the rear bumper. under the hatch. i guess when you slam the hatch the covers break so they went without the lip.

Hi, Thanks for all the get backs. The repros do look darker than OEs,might give more of a contrast, since my car is light blue .Should look GOOD ! Had gotten a set of taillight covers off Hank , had to do some sandin' to get the FIT that I was happy with . As for the headlight covers at night , Got to take it EASY ,on these country roads, in the dark. They do cut down on the light! Mr.Trvlnmann, that was your car pictured, in the Capri feature,of the Mustang mag. Knew I had seen that car before. Very nice. Thanks for the info , once more .

HI, Well here we go! Mr. Trvlnmann Sure was your Vert. The shot that was used in the mag , is from the same event,as the shot you used below.Just from the right side of your car. Name of the mag is ,MODIFIED MUSTANGS & FORDS . The feature was by HUW EVANS , Senior Editor. His page is called ,IN THE SADDLE . The subject of this one is ,COUSIN CAPRI , the forgotten fox . And low and behold ....there is your Vert , on the top of the page. There is a footnote on the bottom ,( send your feedback to - huw.evans@sourceinterlink.com ) . Also it was on page 22 And the back ground was the same in both shots. Hope this helps you out . As for the night driving. MIKE is just working on an age thing with me.

Cool, Thanks for this info. Now I have to track down that issue. Can you tell me the issue date of the magazine?

As for the headlight covers, the night driving isn't to bad just keep you driving lights on as they do help a little.

If anyone has the issue of the above mentioned magazine and is willing to sell it please let me know. trvlnmann@aol.com

HI, Well this is your lucky day Mr.Trvlnmann . I'll give you the issue I have. My Wife will love you for it. One less mag in my office. We'll hook up some way . But you'll get it. I know you are on the mark, with the driving lights. I'm just not a fan of useing them.
