I checked out the nmra site for Milan. I might just have to cruise on up there that weekend.

Woodward Dream Cruise

Post by Kentennis »

I would like to do the cruise this year but I need a more comfortable towing vehicle than my '07 F150. It is NOT comfortable on the road and I'll be towing either the McLaren or my '80 Vette. Probably the McLaren. Like Sandy, I don't like putting too many miles on my collectible cars.

Sure regret giving my '97 Expedition to my daughter. She won't give it back. Still looks and runs awesome even with over a quarter million miles on it.

Also going to a car show in Charleston, SC., in conjunction with an Air Force radar Veteran's Reunion.

As for Michigan events: Milan is VERY dusty and Woodward's simply a parking lot Saturday after 8AM. You'd have to reserve/rent a space to have any hope of an organized get-together.

Why not Carlisle or even the Shelby Club meet at Ford World Headquarters. Always the first Sunday in June?

Truth be told, I personally only attend with a car to a local shows here in N.J. there are actually 1 in a town 8 miles from me and another in a town 6 miles from me, and the town I actually live in has a show EVERY Wednesday nite from 6-9 from the first Wednesday in June to the last Wednesday in August, weather permitting. An exceptional good turn-out, also. About 1/3rd are rained out, so it's still 8 shows 1 mile away. I try to take each car to two shows. (3 McLarens + one Cadillac.)

Hey I am in for a 25th GP IV / ASC Reunion , Hell if we can get more then 6 to commit it be worth it .... I have a GP IV but would be open to all ASC for this gathering ..... Maybe with a little lead time we or I can contact some of the moter mags for some coverage. If it is held in Michigan or Near Detroit I may be able to conjure up a Little TV coverage thru my connections
Just my Thoughts for now ....biggest problem will be getting everybody to agree on a site.
Woodward is ok but we will get lost in the crowd's .... A smaller venue car show I think would be better . Something like the Ford Fox gathering near (new one this year) Columbus Ohio or The All Ford show down by Detroit or later in the year up in Birch Run Michigan. To be fair to all it should be located more central as possible . I am not familiar with the show at Michigan International Speedway (Brooklyn Michigan) but that sounds entreaqing Maybe a good setting for some coverage also .....and we all like to bring the press to a "forgotten" Name plate !!!!! Right Time to get off your dead asses ....25 only comes once .

25th ASC / gpiv Reunion

Post by shelbyscarab »

I would love to see some kind of a reunion/show/meet happen somewhere( I brought this up 3 years ago, but didn't get much interest). I think consideration should be given to picking a location thats as convenient as possible to those interested in participating.

As far as the Woodward dream cruise goes. Yes its a fun show/cruise to go to, but its a logistical nightmare. Its extremely difficult to keep 2 or 3 cars together let alone 12 or more if "cruising" is part of the plan, and once you lose somebody, forget about finding them. And if simply parking somewhere for the day is the plan, Mustang Alley doesn't seem very cooperative with the "ASC people/group". I don't think they care much about our cars since we don't have the name "shelby" or "cobra" anywhere on our cars.

I think a weekend date that doesn't coincide with any national or other large show would be a good choice. And if this takes off, the location could change every year. I would try to contact as many people as possible that have registered with this site or Sandy.

I like the Columbus Ohio idea!

Birch Run is too far for anyone that doesn't live in Michigan, and its a haul from Findlay, OH. It'd be nice if we could get participation from the South, East coast, and Midwest (and they'd be traveling far enogh).

Birch Run could be fun. Frankenmuth is nearby and has Bonner's (the HUGE Christmas store).

If you're a glutton, there's always Tony's, right off I-75. Half gallon sundaes, one pound BLTs, dozen egg omelets, etc.

There's an outlet mall too. Something for the wives.

Also near is Flint. If you've seen Roger and Me, prepare yourself: Flint is no longer the resort town shown in that film....

Myself I have no problem Driving 6 hours to get to a site ......That is why I buy cars ......to drive....... So if I have to go a bit so be it .....if I had a trailier I would go farther .
So Far the Record for most GP IV's at one site was Woodward two years ago I think we had 5 there and a few other very nice ASC rag tops and and a couple of ASC mustangs , ONE Wanabe on a peddle bike (lol) SO if we can get Jason to put a tranny in his GPIV.....JAB JAB !
To be honest I am NOT a fan for having it at WoodWard. I rather see it at the ALL Ford show Near Detroit . I think this is in a park there .....PlumCrazzy can substantiat this . I will see if I can Dig the Date and Location.
Monroe MI Is late in the year but a Nice show and it is located on the Campus of the College (nice Grassy Setting)

Dave says

Lets Not Talk about Flint...... I can show you Flat cement where GM plants use to sit . But there is the Sloan car Museum Just off of 4-75 and Robert T longway Blvd.

As for Tony's order the Bananna Split as a Meal not a dessert!!!!

As for the Birch Run Show .....Being it is in my home turf I wll be doing somthing to entice a few of you ASC/GP IV/Capri folks to this show ......most likely like last year . I will give away a few gas cards (only to ASC/GPIV/Capri Cars that see me )....... I did win a tropy for my division last year for the GPIV . yuk yuk But it rained on and off for most of the day also which made the competiton run for cover, LOL ......the wax Beaded water very well thank you ! and the tropy looks cool !
