So I'm exhausted.

Post by 86capriasc »

Well I think it is time for a quite exhaust. I have a upr x-pipe and a mac cat-back on it now with no converters. It sounds good but damn it is just to loud anymore. I must be getting old. I have had this exhaust on the car since I've owned it and am just tired of the sound. Last night I swapped on some stock 96 cobra exhaust less the tailpipes and I'm kinda liking the quite. I'm sure the cobra mufflers are choking my system and they don't fit right either. They seem to be about 3-4" too long.

So my question too everyone is want mufflers do you recommend to keep it some what civil, yet free flowing. I will use my mac system but cut out their mufflers? I also may just go with dumps not full tailpipe

I have always liked the dynomax superturbos. They were always quite for me. Just my .02 cents.

I have the Dynomax Super turbos as well. I think they sound great. Not really a quiet exhaust but they are not too loud either. A nice drone when you drive but when you put it down they growl.

HI, after reading your info on your exhaust systems. I've been running a set of BBK headers ,off road H pipe and a Mac Cat Back sys, also. They do produce a note. But still have the Ford Sound to it.I understand that the X pipes produce a higher pitch sound. Any truth to that? Thanks.

I have a stainless Magnaflow cat-back system on my 'vert, and it has a nice throaty sound with little resonance. I can't comment on how the system would sound with high-flow cats or no cats, as my car still has the stock H-pipe fitted.
