WARNING! X-RATED

Post by Sandy »

I have always liked the color of pink! I've taken more than my share of ribbing over this, especially when I purchased new a 1986 Lincoln Mark 7 in pink! People uesed to LOOk and stare and my wife would wave at them (if she was along for the ride.
Sadly, I was always defending my Lincoln Mark's color called "Flamingo" and had more than a few verbal battles over it. You have to be strong of mind to drive a pink car. Funny that girls can buy all the blue cars they want, but God forbid a guy in a pink car, especially a straight guy!!

So, I had the Flamingo Mark 7 until 1998, or 12 years. It was so special that I sold it to a CBS executive for a pretty penny!

My wife was glad to see it go, as she was tired of the verbal jousts at traffic lights between me & mr/mrs busy-body, who suffered from "Raised Eyebrow" syndrome.

SOooooooo, I found this on the web and printed it and showed it to wife. I told her Toyota is making 750 of these and I wanna buy one.

[/b]OH NO YOU DON'T, WAS HER REPLY

Whata ya all think? Is this NOT for me ????

Well, as you can see, it was a very light pastel pink, had a little bit of pastel beige in the pink.

To answer the question, it was FACTORY painted in a Special Order Paint (S.O.P.) The color came from a Thunderbird - where it was actually called "Flamingo" (I think the year was 1958 or 59. The interior was burgundy, like the exterior pin stripe.)

It's now in Phila. Pa. with 35,000 miles with it's second owner (private) and has been made the Official Car of the Phila. Area Breast Cancer Awareness Center. I sorta kinda miss her. Her name is PINKIN (rymes with Lincoln)......

Pinkin has been in a national magazine, too, as well as in may parades, and a newspaper write up.

The Phila. area L-M dealers put out a calander for 2004 and on one of the pages was Pinkin. On every page was a speciial Lincoln - 12 in all.

I've had 2 other lincolns since then, but everyone only always wants to know "How's Pinkin" ? She is in the good hands of a collecter in Phila., Pa.

Oh, 85 Motorsport Capri, to answer your ? (just a standard Mark 7?) Yes, it was only a standard Mark 7.....

FpMoCo would NOT honor a S.O.P. order on the other model as there would be to many plastic parts to remove from the car, to be sent under seperate cover to the paint plant. So, I ordered "just a standard Mark 7?"

LSC's were the performance version of the Mark 7.

they received the grey trim (like all 85-86 performance Fords & Mercs...mustang gt, capri rs, t-bird turbo coupe, etc....),
fog lights, aluminum wheels & other exterior trim.

i think they also had a "sport" suspension & came with 5.0 HO/5-speed(not positive though).

Mary Kay ues CADILLACs exclusively, and has never used Lincolns, nor ANY Ford -OR- Chrysler product ! Only GM cars.

My car was a one off. There is no other Mark ever painted in ANY shade of Pink !!!!!!

My car was done especially for me, in my color choice, with my options and my choice of Dark Red leather interior.

The color "Flamingo" was from the 1959 Ford Thunderbird. The car was painted on the Wixom Assembly line where Marks were made. It came with Ford Motor Company letter attesting to these facts.
