Ken asked a while back about 1986 CAPRI production. I knew I had it, but was kinda lazy & tired. Today, I remembered, so here in its entirity are the 1986 MODEL year production of the Mercury Capri:-

1,157 - August of 1985
1,607 - Sept of 1985
1,820 - October of 1985
1,881 - November of 1985
2,060 - December of 1985
1,960 - January of 1986
1,247 - February of 1986
1,172 - March of 1986
1,752 - April of 1986
0,637 - May of 1986
2,656 - June of 1986
1,415 - July of 1986
1,435 - August of 1986
0, 070 - September of 1986

Production ended on September 2nd of 1986

20,869 Total 1986 Mercury Capri(s) manufactured.

8,525 made in 1985 & 12,344 made in 1986.

ascMcLarens accounted for 2.09 percent of production.

What was extremely unusual, was that December was the highest production. December is historically a lower production due to both Christian & Jewish Holy Days, Holiday Parties, and people taking "Personal Days" that cannot be carried over into the new year. Also don't forget the at-work Christmas Parties. That was what caught my eye.

The reason for the high production in December was likely do to the delayed reliase of the 5.0 SFI. We ordered a 5.0 Mustang about the end of August and it did not come in until more than 2 months later in November. It seems the V6 was being phased out and Ford was trying to keep the average gas miliage numbers up by delaying deliver of the V8. I never heard of any real problems with the SFI causing the delay.

How many made each month, for 1985 ?

or, Optional Equipment installation #s & percents?

Those I am 90% sure I have. I do NOT have exterior color breakouts.
