85 model year changes

I had the Capri out this weekend. The wife and I went to car show.

I had one guy tell me of a Mclaren Capri in Schoolcraft Michigan. I forgot to get a name... :roll: I spoke with a guy who is a Fox Chassis nut. He has an 88 Mustang Gt still in the factory wrappers. The windows have not even been cleaned of the factory writing. That car is just like it came off the truck. It has never been titled either, He has a statement of origin from FORD Pretty Cool.
He took the most original trophy.......?

The point is he saw the white plastic fan on the Mclaren and said it was mid year change from a black fan that Ford did. He also asked about the Dura Spark wire chaffing issue. Sandy is right about one thing! When a Ford guy walks up and see's a Mclaren they stop pretty fast.

yes, mid 85, they went from a black metal fan, e2 fan shroud to a white plastic fan and an e5 fan shroud.

UNfortunately, most people have no clue that the car is anything special.
Ford people ... I usually get " Oh, I remember those, that is an ABC
MAC-a-LAREN, right ?????

They are kinda blowen away by the color (Azura Blue) and will ask, What kinda paint is that? I tell them it's called "Azura Blue" and sometimes they will saY, 'wHO MAKEs it?" I tell then Sikkens. They repeat

Oh. 'ya... A Mercury Caprice ! (That was a 1-year only car, right ??

(That is when ya have MORE than one Capri. they are Caprice !)
