Is my 85 ASC Capri coupe supposed to have a grille emblem?

Anything and everything to do with ascMcLaren cars can go here.

That emblem was only used from 83-86. A three year part. The prior emblem is a different part number.

Peter, call Hank and see if he has some. It would be great if he does.

In Northern New Jersey Junk Yards have all but gone away. The drive to get to one from most places will cost one $15 to $20 dollars worth of gas to go & come back with no guarantee that they will have it. Even though I have in storage over five thousand worth of ascMcLaren specific parts, I do not have the ascMcLaren that goes over the MERCURY one . I have the original on the car, but no spare. Check out the door panel of a McLaren Convert. I think they are the same.....emblem NO ??

Another score. And if you are going to put an ASC decal on it, you can make any 'L' bracket kinda 'doohickie' to put in there and the no one would be none the wiser once the ASC emblem goes on it.....

I'm looking for a photo now, but I'm 99% sure my '85 had the emblem on the grill as well as the dash. The '86 added a sequence number plaque to the dash right next to it.

I thought '85's didn't have anything on the dash?

Sounds right. I always thought they lacked the dash emblem.

I have to find my photos. Car's been gone since May of '86 and I didn't drive it Oct-April, so it's a bit hazy.

I have seen some with decals added there and of course there were wild variations on build content and quality at ASC, but I really do think mine had the same emblem on the dash as on the grill.

To be correct:

COUPES:

1984 & 1985 had no plaque / Decals
1986 Full Packaged Coupes had a Limited Edition #____ Plaque
001-114

EuroCoupes had none

I do not know about Grand Prix IX models, as I never saw one up close nor got personal wit it :shock:

CONVERTIBLES:
Mustang:
1987 = 001 to 479 = 479 made
1988 = 480 to 1,494 = 1,015 made Ends "Series 1"
1989 = 001 to 247 = 247 made
1990 = 248 - 300 = 53 made
Silver Anniversary intenders: 1900-1911 = 12 intenders made

So, how many FP coupes were made in 86? 114 or 115? I've seen it listed both ways on this site and in your posts and signature.

115 were recieved, at asc McLaren. 1 (One) was wrecked prior to being converted. It's unclear how it was wrecked. Internal accident ? Stolen of the lot ? severely damaged during conversion ? I was never told. So, - like you said, sometimes I use 115 and sometimes 114.
114 actually left the ascMcLaren plant. 115 were shipped to ascMcLaren FROM Mercury Division of FoMoCo.
(We are talking COUPES, herein.....and NOT speaking of EuroCoupes.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. I guess both numbers are "correct" then.
