stock tires brand and size '88 vert
Thanks guys. Coincidentally, I just happened upon a good year tire limited warranty booklet in my original paperwork dated back from June of 1986. So with that and your inputs, i am pretty confident now that they were the gator backs. The reason I asked was that I got dinged on the tire brand at the last MCA show I was at and I was pretty sure they were the right ones. Of course i was not asked at the time, but now I have the ammo to explain to the judges that the gators were the originals. Again thanks for the help.

I dunno if I'd count on that alone. I recall my owner's manual package was all Ford OEM--including the Goodyear thing and one for a Ford Premium Sound system.
Not a thing in it said "ASC". I don't think they went through the legal hassle of adding in any info.
They didn't change the door tire sticker either.

Thanks. It's better than nothing I suppose. I'll have to use my charming personality with the judges and act like i know what i am talking about then. haha but the gators sound right to me so....

yeah well I have the the window sticker, but it says, "P195/75R14 all-season." of course this is on the standard equipment side. Nothing listed on the optional side regarding tires.
***does anyone know what the (special order 86 0009) on the options list stands for*** ....Sandy?

0002 is the shipping code - internal. But don't ask me wheere each code was. I have no idea. Even though asc McLaren was not too far from the Mustang/Capri plant they had to be "shipped" ~ don't wanna upset the Union boys, 'ya know....

I have Firestone Firehawks on mine. They're brand new but came with the car. I looked at replacing them but $$$, I'll just ride it out and hope they don't let me down. I had 3 Firestone '721 Steel Belted Radials' fail on my '67 Cadillac convertible on the middle/late 70's. Haven't bought one of the 'Stones' since. Had 2 Michelins fail on our '93 Escort the first year we owned it. One blew on the highway and 1 blew out a sidewall when I came to a stop and put it in reverse. Michelin was not rated very good by Consumer reports.
I took the wheels and tires off the Escort and went to a bigger 14" rim and way bigger tires (Goodyear) and the wife drove that car over 110,000 miles with that set on it and it quieted the car way down. We sold the car after 11 years and 181,000 miles and EVERYTHING STILL WORKED. Had to replace the idler pulley once and fix the A/C at 145,000. Other than that GREAT CAR. 34-35 on the hwy and 24-26 around town. Automatic too. We shoulda kept the damn thing. It's still on the road!
