Defination of: OY VEY

Post by Sandy »

We in N.Y. and N.J. are going to get 18 to 24 inches of snow, and 40 MPH winds!
It begins tonight around 10PM and continues with altrnatiing heavy, medium & light snow through Sat morn when it finally ends. Totall Misery.
We are ready - to a degree....two 'Fridges full of food as well as 2 freezers, and a man who is going to attempt to plow our 5 car driveway, with my plow, which is full of gas, but I do not think up to that kinda job.
This will be THE worst snowfall in Northern NJ & NY that I can recall in the last 20 years. Everything will come to a halt. Saturday wil be sunny and like 38-40 drgrees. Get out the boats!
All cars in garages, exdept our son's which lives in the driveway, which will be doing its impersonation of a marshmellow.
 :smash:
I must admit, listening to the weather reports, I am a bit scared.
I am worried about the garage roofs bearing the weight of such a snow, Both of them are flat roofs, I expect to have load bearing snow on them for weeks.

If it makes you feel any better, 9" snow is equal to only 1" of rain, so perhaps the run off won't be so bad.

I am not the least bit jealous, and no matter what you say, I won't be!!

Best of luck. Flat roofs usually have more strength than sloped roofs.

Our weather has sucked since Jan. 1. Coldest January on record in many, many years. February hasn't shown any improvement either.

The wife and I were in a 'micro burst' the other day coming home from Hernando Beach via Aripeka Road in a heavy, blowing rain. It was reported by the weather service that they detected a tornado in the area. All I know is I couldn't see because of the rain and we were being blown a ll over the road. Luckily it wasn't a busy day on the road. We had my F150.

I actually did see a 10 second shot of that on NYC late news. DID NOT LOOK INVITING

I had my infusion, yesterday so I AM TWISTED & mixed up.
I am not gonna be able to return to hospital tomorrow to get disconected from my "at home" pump, so they called me with instructions what to do to shut it off. I probaby not be able to get back there until Friday. I hate sleeping with it's needle in my chest. Have to sleep on my back. If I turn over the needle nails me & I wake up in pain. 2 nites I can take....but 4 ??

I keep day dreaming about April-June when the car shows nearby begin. I can't wait to go and take a car. I love that, and it makes the bad days fade away. I feel so good, it's hard for me to really grasp that I have 2% cancer. I have really never looked better, and when not suffering rthe after affects of the chemo, I feel terriific. I look the best ever, too. From 263 pounds I am now a nice 226. For age 63, I have NO facial lines nor wrinkles, and a full head of dark brown hair with no "bald-sports". People that I ask "Waht is my age?" usually guess 47 to 50.
But when on the chemo, like right now, I feel like I am dying.
By Tuesday eve I'll be fine, until 2 weeks, when it all begins again.
Sucks so bad, in the hospital, seeing others die or hearing gabout them passing away. I cannot get outta my sync this beautiful 23 year old foxy girl. Figure, eyes, smile, hair...all fantastic. She died. Breast Cancer spread to lungs and then to brain. It took 7 months. She never really got to live. It hurt me bad, being the father to a 25 year old son

Stay strong and keep up the good thoughts of coming car shows. Attitude means alot! Right now there are car events every weekend through April. Then we kind of slow down until September.

Waiting hear if you started getting the snow yet. That's why we moved west 15 years ago-I'd rather be 110 degree heat than snow. My sis-in-laws Wed flight from NY was canceled Tuesday. She isn't happy about waiting until Sunday to come out here.

Sandy,

Bah, weathermen lie! It's going to be fine. I bet we won't get any more than 18 inches, tops.

Now, that being said, I just shovled the back deck and a portion of the back yard for my Pembroke Welsh Corgi. This snow is HEAVY! I'm a bit more south in the state then Sandy, and I see on the weather station the freeze line is only about 20 miles south of me.

Oh, one last thing. Toughen up you cupcakes! I'll be out there with a shovel. No snow blower here. Although I can see blowers getting clogged with how heavy the snow is.

We have one son. He is 25 & terrific. He is a C.P.A. and has a fabulous career and is also in law school to combine Accounting with Law. Straight A grades, always & forever, voted most likely to suceed in college in his chosen profession, and raised the most money, ever, on any campus for Danny Thomas children's chairities. Gives time at the Red Cross, and is a member of the men's club at our Synagogue. Has never damaged his car!
No drugs, no pot and very little booze.
Keeps the sloppiest bedroom west of California, however.

I feel good, still awaiting the plow man to plow out our 50 foot driveway and sidewalk and from walk to front door.
He says he will be here tomorrow, when the snoe stops
We have 14 inches. Karen (the wife) wenrt out and measured it.
Matt's car in driveway, looking like a huge marshmellow
I think my favorite small tree might have broken off. It looks like an upside down letter "U"
I am gonna make fried onions over hambergers with F.F. Onin Rings and rolling rock beer for dinner.
(Yes, I am all out of RC Cola) DAMN !!!!!!!!!!!!
The needle is sticking me in the chest right now. I am off.....
I hope I can get to the hospital by Friday AM to gert this damnned thing outta me. I can just imagine the loooooong line in front of me. An all day, affair.
Gotta go cook.....later

CPA and a Law Degree? He could go right to the top of the US Postal Inspection Service, which starts out at around $85,000.00 a year. A great investigative and law enforcement agency. The retirements are extremely good too.

Hey all of you eastern Mustangers hang in there. No matter what go outside and clear off the snow. 1 cubic foot of average snow weighs 15 pounds. Compacted or blown snow can be over 20 pounds per cubic foot.
Do the math, it is well worth getting cold to protect your property.

I had 48 inches of snow in one night last December. I created quite a mess.

Good luck and think sun.

Well, I stand corrected! I had a total of 20" (central NJ). Wet & heavy. I thank God I went out and removed the initial 5-6" early in the day. I had a heavy pine branch break and take out a portion of my back fence. It must have looked kinda funny to see me with my chainsaw cutting it off the fence in a blizzard. Had to knock the snow off the arborvities and honey suckle every few hours. SHoveled everything by 9 PM last night, as the snow was turning to freezing rain and I figured heavy snow was still easier to shovel than ice. Every 10 minutes or so you heard another tree branch crack.

All in all, I hpoe I win HGTV's New Mexico Dream House. I'm getting way too old for this s**t!
