88 Mclaren

Post by mclaren993 »

Hi Sandy...I think we chatted about a month ago (?). I've got an 88 McLaren Mustang, #993 with the tan interior and black exterior and top. I've finally decided to sell her. I'm having a tough time with determining a good price for the market since she wasn't a show car but she still runs well. If I send you some pic's and details (mileage etc) can you tell me if I'm in the ballpark for the asking price? I'd really like to sell her to someone who knows what a McLaren is. I'm not a "mod" kinda girl. Thanks!

88 McLaren

Hi Sandy, works for me. Here are the details:

1988 McLaren Mustang
Mileage: 105K
Black ext & top with tan interior.
5.0 HO automatic

Runs well, new flowmasters (still purrs) and tires (v-rated per window sticker).
Was a daily driver for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm third owner and carfax is clean. Now kept in garage and driven in the sunny weather like it was meant to. I have all maint records since I've owned her. I tucker her away until I could make a project out of her - then life took over.

Cosmetics: Still gets looks, but needs love. I'd say a 20 footer. All is functional.
To be great again:Needs paint, new top (about 3" tear in back corner window), one tailight lense (it's on and doesn't leak, but was cracked when friend was helping me clean it). Needs one side ground-effects (thin piece below driver door). Wheels need to be cleaned, missing 1 or 2 plastic wheel inserts. Basically everything can be picked up from Gary. As far as I know, everything is original except speakers and the floormats.

Interior is clean, no funky smells. Seats are in good condition (no tears,e tc) I have original radio and misc parts I've replaced (old visor, ashtray, etc)

I also have the window sticker, top manual and regular manual. I have a ton of pic's I can post. (as soon as I learn how) :)

I appreciate the feedback everyone!

Keep her. What you're going to get for her right now will just break your heart.
I wish blue jeans, old cars, and boots would go out of style.

6,000 maybe a little less. It needs alot of little things AND a paint job and windows for the roof, which requires a roof....and other things, in a DEPRESSED ECONOMY.

6000 actually sounds a little better than I was thinking. I'll get the pictures together and get her posted on Gary's site this weekend. If anyone else has an idea on price, feel free to jump in.
