brand new capri hood value

Post by ct_gsxr1000 »

so I have an original capri hood, in factory primer, never painted, never on a car, found in a storage container from a lincoln mercury dealer.... have a buyer for my 85 vert and he wants to know the price for the hood. I also have the packing slip dated 1987 however the box never made the years and was thrown out... what would be your guess on its value? btw it does NOT have the grills thanks in advance

This is tough.

If you had a guy really in need of a NOS Capri hood (it is rare), $500.

If you are trying to sell it...$200.

Used goes for $50-$100.

Almost no one is looking for NOS sheet metal for Capris. Few people are dropping serious money on bone stock restos.

The hoods are getting scarce though...

Yeah it's tough to put a figure on it as there was a NOS one for sale in MA for some time and it ended up selling for about $50.

People buying NOS stuff expect it to be in the box still. No box drops the price. Nobody ever uses the box but it adds to the value. $200 sounds like a deal!

Capriman86:
I purchased the hood from Mass., probably the one you found for sale, he actually delivered it to Ct. on his way to New York which made it even better... as for the box, it was too damaged to save however I cut out the shipping and packing info and saved it to prove delivery date and so on.
really didn't need the hood, just one of those "I should buy this" type purchases too good to pass up
thanks for the replies

On sheet metal, I see lots of stuff sans boxes that seem to get aout the same value. However, the box is indeed always nice to have.
