1987 Buick GNX #464?

I am trying to find some history on #464 GNX, and confirm whether the factory installed ASC sunroof was ordered and installed for Richard E Marriott by personal letter to Heinz Prechter.

Anyone that could provide information pertaining to supposedly the only 2 GNX's (033 and 464) to have the factory installed ASC sunroof would be greatly appreciated.

I apologize for bringing up the GNX topic. However, my question really is about the ASC Sunroof manufactured and installed by ASC on the GNX #033 and 464.

If someone is an expert and historian on the subject of the ASC Sunroof I would appreciate any information that is related to the GNX factory installed sunroof.

asc is no more.

Saleen bought them and dismantled them and sold off what was left.

If you google asc, you still find a company but it's just a shadow of the original.

Anyone and everyone that had anything to do with that era is long gone. Sandy might have a contact or two, but that is probably all. Dunno if they know anything about the GNX cars and I would guess they would have no paperwork or anything.

I have but 1 contact left, and he is in a new company, vastly different than American SunRoof Corp and has forgotten 90% of things of interest to us.
I am thankful that I got all the production numbers and all the rest of the stuff I obtained.

Why Saleen bought it, and then took it all apart and wasted it all is beyond me. I was never fond of the mentality held by Saleen-ites. MANY could have some serious trouble in conversiing without using profanity, and getting LOUD and figurtively speaking... IN YA FACE.

I had mentioned that Saleen bought his cars off of dealer lot inventory and customized them into Saleens, but ascMcLaren was able to have FoMocCo make the vehicles as they needed to aid & assist ascMcLaren in conversion and had metal tags attached to their frames, by Ford, art the Ford Assembly Plant, thst stated asc mc laren.
The guys went wild on me. I learn new curse words, even at age 40-something. (Ya it was 20 years ago ~)
"Keep it Stock" is a phrase totally lost on a Saleen owner.!!

I came up with a couple different bits of info depending on whether I googled American Sunroof Company or American Specialty Cars. It looks like the sunroof part of ASC was sold to and is currently held by a company called Inalfa. It looks like this piece was sold shortly after Heinz Pretcher died and thus well before Saleen came into the picture. It appears what Saleen's holding company bought was the 'specialty car' piece of the business.

While I doubt Inalfa has retained any 'sunroof' related records, especially as they pertain to 'specialty cars' production, it wouldn't hurt to contact them.

If anyone is interested, the "Saleen" that bought what was left of ASC had , absolutely nothing to do with Steve Saleen. His company was purchased first, and promptly disolved.

The only thing kept was the core car building part. The new company even voided warranties on cars built prior to the model year following their purchase.

Having a conversation with other car guys (saleens) and simply discussing facts on the origins of their cars, I can't believe that they "went off" on you.

But then again, there are alot of people out there that don't like to be presented with "facts" in a debate.

Saleen guys want to live under the impression that their cars were Ford sanctioned and constructed.

MOST don't realize that Ford had NOTHING to do with the Fox chassis ones (I don't know if that's true for the later ones or not). When you tell them this, they get their panties in a wad. "How DARE you even IMPLY that my SALEEN is a TUNER car!"
