What did you sell? I sold Dodge for 16 years, Pontiac for 5 months, Imperial, Chrysler & Plymouth for 5 years and had my own used car lot for 6 years. Olympic Motor Car Company.
We were C&C (cash & carry) All cars were "Working Man's Specials" ~

The good old days!

Post by capri50asc »

Sandy

My father owned a used car lot for almost 30 years. I miss those days! The car business was a lot of fun! The cars back then had character . These
days all the cars look the same. Stamped out of the same dies!

I sold Ford's for Rowden Ford in Grand Rapids, Mich. Been buying and selling cars for a long time. In 1965 I went to work for TRW. Went to Wayne State in Detroit while working there. Left as Supervisor of Machining and moved back to Florida in 1977. Missed the money but not the ex-wife or the snow/cold. Retired as a Federal Employee 10-97. I turned 72 on 4/07/2010. Once rented from a guy in St.pete, Fl that only did wholesale. Bought some real nice iron from him till some guy murdered him over a car deal.

I've spent a lifetime in sales as well... matter of fact, I'm still in it! Sold hi-end audio, motorcycles, photographic services, cars... haven't sold toasters or aircraft yet... but hey, there's still time. Guess once it's in your blood or something like that...

On another note:

Hey Ken, happy belated! I sincerely hope as a memorable present to yourself you took a long relaxing drive on some country backroads in the finest red four-eyed '86 model my eyes have ever seen. btw, I may as well just plant the seed in your ear now... If you ever decide to sell it, assuming the asking price is less than our national debt, I sure wouldn't mind first dibs... assuming 14 other people haven't already beaten me to it! :D

1990 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10 Superbike (Update - SOLD!)
Various other rusty junk strewn about the yard
No blood in these veins... thats Mobil-1~!!

Took several rides this past week. With the top down. One was 100+ miles and the others were a little shorter. The car now has around 22,500 miles on it. Where on Earth could I possibly buy a low mileage, bright red convertible to drive for less money and have more fun.

Someone in Pa. has asked to let them know if I ever want to sell it.

I bought the car from Family Estate Sales in Margate, Fl. While we were there the couple called from Pa. and offered more than the seller and I had agreed on. But he told them the deal was sealed, which it was since I had deposited the money in his account a couple days before.

Interestingly enough I bought my 1980 L82 Corvette from the same place almost 7 years ago.
