Need help in Dallas area
Is anybody here in the Dallas area? If so, I need a BIG, BIG favor that I am more than willing to pay for........
http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1709991021.html
Is it possible somebody can look at this car for me and document it with pictures?
I really want this car, but I'm uncomfortable buying it sight unseen.
I'll gladly pay whatever expenses are incurred.
Thanks, Chuck

Please note these Thunderbirds had the very badly engineered 255 cid engine. It was decidedly unpopular because it had virtually no performance potential . The cranks are very small and weak. But was the engine changed to a 302. Double check.

If you are uneasy buying a 1000 car online i understand..... so i suggest you hire a third party inspector http://www.greatoldcars.com/Inspections.htm this inspector may not be near cars location however search for used car inspectors suggest someone who deals in older cars.

Chris, all '80 v8 cars were 302.
I had one of these Silver Anny' cars before. I absolutely loved it, but when my son came along in '94 and was in the hospital for 6 months, I had to liquidate some things and unfortunately, my 'Bird was one of them.
I REALLY regret getting rid of it, because what I thought was going to be a good home turned out to be the wrong choice, the car got trashed.
Thanks for the suggestion, David. Had'nt thought of that option. I do it with property all the time. I thought my brother was going to do this for me, but you know how family can be sometimes.

All 1980 Capris/Mustangs and I assume T-birds and Cougers got the 255.

I love those T-Birds. I work in Dallas, and would not mind looking at it and taking a bunch of pics for you. I cannot provide any mechanical advice, however.
Have you talked with the seller to see where he is and what his availability in general is?

But you said all v8 cars...not just TBirds...lightning95sc wrote:Thanks, Robert. I wanted to nail down someone first. I'll call tonight and let you know.
Guys, I know '80 Mustangs and Capris had 255's. All '80 v8 Thunderbirds were 302's. The 255 became available in the 'Bird in '81

Looks like the 302 wasn't standard on the T-Bird in 1980. It was an option however above the standard 255:

I meant all Tbird v8 cars, since that was the topic of discussion. But I stand corrected. In all my years of playing with and working on these cars, I've never seen an '80 with a 255.
I guess thats what I get for assuming
But, again, I stand corrected.

P.S. Robert, you have a PM

A '66 Q code Towne Coupe is my alltime favorite car.
My Dad had a triple green one when I was a kid. He blew the 428 racing it and put a 406/tri-power in it.
My desire is to collect "solid" examples of 25th & 30th Anny' 'Birds and a '66 Q code. I've had both Anny' cars, but they had to go behind a sick child and divorce, respectively. So now I'm rebuilding.
