next to the gear shifter. what is it? I have had my car for almost 2 years now and I have paid this no mind. All this time I thought it was a cigarette lighter and I don't smoke. Sorry for the silly question.

Is this loose there? It look like the rubber piece that goes on the remote mirror knob.

no not the rubber sitting there. I was cleaning her up today and got that off the floor the knob to the left. all it does is twist like to a light? I swore for the longest time it was a cigarette lighter.

I think you mean the cigarette lighter? Pull it out. That was put in when smoking was the big think.

Thanks for contribution Chris....... sandy that's the best guess I have so far. It doesn't seem to control anything and it doesn't look aftermarket.

Well!! In my car this is the lighter. I Can see the lighter marks around yours where people didn't line up properly and burnt the vinyl around it.

Maybe I will tinker with. It and see what's under it. I don't smoke so I thought it was a lighter and I decided to plug my phone charger and I noticed its something else. Maybe its stereo oriented at one time?

LOOK in your ASHTRAY. IF there is a lighter in there.... then this pictured thing is for the right side remote control mirror. IF there is NO lighter receptacle IN the ash tray.....then it's the lighter.
It's 1 or the other.

Both mirrors are manual so I don't think its that. I have a feeling a previous owner must have had a stereo system in the car and this might have been a volume knob for the speakers in the back. The knob moves like a volume or dim setting.

If that's the case good.. then I can put a cig lighter back in there so I have power.
