86 Eurocoupe found

Post by 86ASCCoupe20 »

I found a rare Eurocoupe today sitting at a body shop few towns over from me. Its gray, solid roof and has an automatic transmission. Just wondering if it was a 1 of 1 car. Figured Id let the owner know.

Probably not 1 of 1, but Sandy can tell you pretty quick. All these cars qualify as rare, which is why they're so cool. :D

I have no tranny info. Likewise, no EuroCoupe roof style breakout.
I can tell you that the "Smoke Metallic" *IS* a rather rare color on a EuroCoupe. 47 EuroCoupes were made, all of which were 1986s.
White was the most ordered color, followed by Black. Smoke Grey & Platinum were the bottom 2.
Most had the standard FoMoCo Am Fm Stereo with Cassette player, and were automatics with no P/D/Locks - but there ARE exceptions !!

Sandy, this one had an Alpine. Not sure which one. Car seemed solid just covered in surface rust. I will have to check the windows and locks next time.

I grabbed the last 6 digits of the vin and they were on your eurocoupe list. It also had no stripes and no plaque on the dash. I posted a pic on lost and found four eyes a few days ago on FEP.

I believe you're right, it's a Euro. I hate seeing these cars so mistreated. I appreciate mine more and more everytime I see others in this condition.

I do not know what year they were, but for 1 year only, up in Canada they had Capri 2-door notchback 2-Dr. Sedans like the Mustang 2-Dr. Sedans, with the rather straight downward "C" pillar. Mighta been 1980.
Nack in 1983-84 I saw one on the highway, bearing Canadian Plates. It was the Light Blue Metallic.

Sandy, I don't think there was any such thing.

Check out the Canadian Capri Brochures for 1979-1986:

You may be thinking of a Mexican Mustang but to see one so far north would be odd...

Perhaps it was a Mustang Coupe with a grafteed on Capri front end & rear end, but that would not explain the rear window & "C" pillar.
It cought my eye. This was long before the 1st McLaren was made. I think it was like 1981 or 82. No, I was not drunk.

what Sandy seen is probably an after market fake vert. prior to the factory produced verts, a handful of company's coverted them into verts. there was also a company that made vinal roofs that looked like fake verts. i have seen a few of these back in the day. cant remember seeing a capri, but seen these on both hatchbacks & coupes. all pre 83 cars.
or maybe a mexican mustang that snuck across the border?
