Hella foglight differences....

So I got that set of Hella's off from ebay....they are nearly and identical match except for a few small differences....

#1 The screws holding the outer cover are longer and there is this thingy that holds the screw head above the hole....(see pic). It comes off and the screw hole in the cover is no different than the correct light.

#2 The back has this thick POST sticking up out of it. A dremel will make quick work of that problem.

Don't mind the location of the wires on the picture of the back...I had the two lights flipped to their opposite ends....and the gap is from the removed screws.

Other than that they were IDENTICAL...not bad for $75 shipped for a pair that goes for a list of $300 from Hank.

Nope. Just the Blue Hella Sticker on the front.

Darn,

I was hoping that you would have said that it came in a Hella box with a shelf stock number on it.
I kind of had a feeling though, with those mounting "nubs" on the back of the housing it's probably an O.E. application lamp, just a guess though.

OK I did some digging and they look about like SAAB 9000 fog lights...

"9000 89-94 Fog Light Kit 4 Dr CD Models Only"

There is a guy on ebay selling 1 light from a SAAB 9000 which looks just like the ones I got:

I wouldn't doubt there is a stash of them somewhere.

We just need to find the "secret decoder ring" on those lights.

I'm sure it would be kind of like the Hella fog lights that were O.E. on the '87-'88 Turbo Coupes. They are most likely discontinued now, but if you needed a replacement lense, Ford made you buy the whole light assembly and they were nearly $150 each.
Someone on the TC board found that the same lamp was used on a Toyota or Nissan (I can't remember now) truck and you could order every piece seperate from their parts dept. The lenses could be bought for about $10 a piece.

It seems to me that I remember seeing them on one of the 2 door 6-series coupes too.

Well, it "looks" like the right lense.

Can't be sure until you order one and try to replace them.

Most people are missing the entire assembly though. I have yet to see somebody with a cracked lense...it seems usually the whole air dam is ripped out and gone.

New and never used, Hella fog lites! Saab part number, #9529900. This is for a pair of fog lites and it includes the plastic adjusting hardware! They could be used in other fitments, however they were purchased for a Saab 9000! The Hella number on the lens is, #301 126 259-00.
