new Conv top
new Conv top
I ordered a new conv top from Cabrio online april 6th and it is now april 24th. I have contacted the company and they had to have it made b/c they didnt have any in stock, then they were back ordered on the material. SO just a heads up to anyone looking to buy a new top. The car has been under a tarp and cover for three weeks waiting for its new top.

Well the top is about 75% on the car. Still need to finish up the header and the back of the window pieces and she is on. I guess you get what you pay for. The big difference is the stitching, which i read about in a thread here. The orignal top has white thread and the replacement top is black thread. Not a big deal to me. And the fit seems pretty good. It is a little off on the sides, but that could be due to my lack of experience fitting vert tops and the flexing of the frame for the last 17 years. But for the $391.18 delivered price, it was worth it to me. Let me know if you have anymore questions or pics.
Also forgot to add, that the cable that connects to the header and down the back of the driver side window frame isnt on this top. Not sure how that is going to effect anything.

Ok, I have found the biggest fault/difference in the $400 top vs the $750 top. The cable I talked about early does really serve a purpose. It keep the sides of the top from lifting up at highway speed. Which in turn allows air under the top and lifts the first bar up. It doesnt look like it puts to much stress on the top. But it is annoying, and probably looks bad from the outside.
SO...my question is to other who have purchased the ez-on top did you find a solution to this problem. I tried to just make a small slit in the edge and run the cable myself, but they have glue that fold over to the top and that makes it vertually impossile to run that cable.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
As soon as the sun comes out I will get pictures up of the top.

My top is getting old and the cables broke. I have not tried to find replacements yet. Keep us posted if you find some.

Cabrio Top
Glad to see you are brave enough to self install. I bought the top from Cabrio world last summer for the '88. I have it draped over the top of the car. I think I'm just going to have a local top shop put it on.
for the cable, I just thought I'd pull the old one out and use a piano wire to snake it through the new one.

I tried that, but if you look at the edge...it shows two stitchings(from the top), but when you flip the top over and really look at it. The inside stitch doesnt go thru the whole top, it is decoration. The fold over it glued together.
And if you take your time it isnt to difficult to install the top.
