84 ASC COUPES

I must admit that I cannot answer any of these questions. Many moons ago, all I was told was that 25 examples were made for 1984. It seemed to me that something was mentioned that they went to Detroit / Michigan dealers. In other words, "locally".

I was told that they were all the dark blue metallic with the orange striping, were all manual transmission, and no options - except for A/C.
They had the Radar in the glove box, with the cut glove box door, allowing the face of the unit to be flush with the remaining front of thr glove box door.
Then....... they all vanished. Poof = thin air.

But, then agai, such was not all that unusual for ascMcLaren.

They set aside 12 - 1990s with "Scarlet" interior. They affiixed 12 sequential dash plaques (1200-1211). Then they set aside the 12 cars.

So, in the end only 2 were actually made in Silver, while th others were black, white or red exteriors. I got 1 of thr 2 made in Silver, only because they brought 2 indoors to convert, while awaiting the Aresma Silver cloth roofs.

Read the story. So then, here comes an owner, we'll say of a Red car, but he has a plaque between 1200 & 1211, and assumes someone has repaited his car !

See? Small speciality car manufactures do things a little differently than GM. Chrysler & Ford.

If it is true that the 25 Coupes went to Detroit/Michigan dealers, a Carfax or Autocheck report on these batches should reveal the location they were originally shipped to after manufacture.
